CHRONIC CHAOS
Chronic Chaos was the brain-child of guitarist and sound engineer Chuck Brommer in 1996, along with vocalist James Keener. Chuck, with his classical metal background and James with his intimidating death metal type vocals set out to tear things up and break the mold of just death metal or just metal. With a musical sound similar to straight metal, James tore up his throat screaming his guttural vocals over the music. The lyrics are a mixture of Chuck's ideology of religion and his disillusionment with the contemporary Christian church, love and life along with James' views on life, death and the here-after. Chuck's long history in bands both playing live and doing many studio efforts surely shine out in this recording. However, the time of Chronic Chaos was not to be. James found happiness in the bottom of a glass and distanced himself from the project. Chuck continued on, pressing more than one hundred casettes and cd's. Those early recording were well received by critics and received air play from college radio stations. James finally got his shit together and hooked back up with Chuck vowing to make more music and be more committed. Chuck while doing several projects in the meantime, agreed and together they set out to create some great sounds.
In early 2000, Chronic Chaos re-emerged with a newly found sense of purpose and direction. Incorporating a new member, drummer George Rimes , James and Chuck churn out some great songs on this recording. A more or less "fuck the vocals" attitude was taken by all for the fact that the sound of a singers voice tends to classify you into a genre. The music can best described as just that MUSIC. Damn the pigeon-hole and never let it be a chain to bind. That being said, the members of C.C. would prefer to defined as mental music.
Songs flow and harmonize with one another in this cd. There is not a dull moment on this recording.
"I really just set down the bass lines and really connected with George, it wasn't hard seeing how George is such a great drummer", bassist James states, "Chuck rips up the fretboard with his solos and I just enjoy hearing him tear it up while George and I keep the rythym".
George says, "I eat babies and shit out pampers! As long as them bitches keep giving up that stinky pussy hole, I am happy! Oh yeah the songs are good too! Maybe I will use babies as drumsticks for the next record!"
Chuck defines the new cd as "desire for spirituality and the struggle with insensitivity in the search for true enlightenment, this gave me my slant on God." He goes on to say, "That struggle is the true concept of Chronic Chaos".
Chronic Chaos now evolving for 2005 will be in the studio and writing new songs as wel as revamping the older music with a new singer, and an additional guitarist. Expect great things from this band.
