Ashes Hollow
Ashes Hollow
The right hand foreground of the photograph above shows a slope of regolith that has been weathered from the valley sides and is gradually moving down hill into the stream. The stream will then eventually transport the material depositing it further down the valley.

The flat area in the middle of the picture is evidence that this V shaped valley was filled in with large amounts of weathered material probably at the end of the last ice age when frost shattering was more common. The stream is now cutting down through this material.
Ashes Hollow, The Longmynd, Shropshire
This photograph shows the result of a thunderstorm that has washed large amounts of regolith down this tributary valley into the stream.
This accounts for large amounts of angular bedload found along the length of the stream
