Today, Here Tomorrow -
A Geographic Focus on Conservation
Get the TEACHER'S PACKET online this year! A first for National Geographic!
This year's theme is CONSERVATION. National Geographic has prepared
lesson plans in four strands for elementary, middle, and high school students.
The four strands are: Biodiversity, Fresh Water, Population, and Oceans.
National Geographic has set up an opportunity for teachers and students
to share their experiences using the Conservation theme materials at their
GAW site. This is a first-time experience for National Geographic,
allowing teachers to interact and share experiences.

National Geography Where-In
Please let us know of your participation by sending a card to Mary Alice Aguilar, Delaware Geography Alliance, c/o Department of Geography, University of Delaware, Newark, DE 19716 and indicate how many students, faculty, and staff in your school participated!

Or try something different as a family activity...
Lycos offers a fanastic cybersurfari that has been endorsed by many organizations.
National Geographic also offers a COOL BEANS webquest for families to try together. They post a new one every other week.
After you surf the net, send an e-mail message to the Delaware Geography Alliance! We'll send you a certificate of participation!

ESRI sponsors a "Community Atlas" project that allows you and a group of students to create either one of two projects. Students may complete an atlas of their community, creating maps that describe their communities online. Or students may complete a conservation mapping project. ESRI offers prizes to YOU and your school for participating!
