| -- Activism -- Getting involved with YOUR country |

| Why should I get involved with my country? See this background? That's why you should become involved in your country. What can I do to get involved? Pick something you feel strongly about and do it to the best of your ability. It doesn't have to be a HUGE thing, it just has to be something. For example: I write letters to my convressmen, by hand, pertaining to certian issue that are important to me. That way, then they know what I want. I don't have time to hand write a letter!!!!! Then join a group that does the letter writing for you and all you'll have to do is click "send". If you need an example go to www.one.org, they send you the letters and do all the work, all you have to do is send the e-mail iwth a one button push or make simple phone call. The American Lung Association operates in exactly the same way. Why should I care about my government, my government doesn't care about me? Actually, your government doesn't care about you because you don't care about your goverment. The goverment of the United States is like any other business or operation, it responds to the squeekiest wheel. Be the squeeky wheel. There will be time for this when I'm older, I want to enjoy life right now! The life and fun you have right now are only because of those that have been activists before you. You'll have plenty of time when you're older, yes. But then, things might be so screwed up by then that a change is not possible. Be the change. What is the very least I can do? Vote. Vote in every single election. Be knowledgable. Do some research. You don't have to spend hours, just get the facts and make your own descision. |
