Dear Journal,
When you read these back to back I seem to do the same things week end and week out. This weekend was no different. Once again I went out shopping and to the movies. First on Saturday Charles and I went to eat and to the Great Mall of the Great Plains. This is a enormous outlet mall with the most atrocious decorations. The hallways are done in these gaudy patterns and colors. I make a point to not even look at the decor while I am there and to keep my eyes on the shop fronts. I once again was out to get more new clothes. It is surprising how much you have to replace when you gain weight. In the past, the few times I changed clothing sizes, I couldn't afford to go out and buy all new and would take months to change over to the new size. This time I have the money and no desire to where to small clothing any longer than I have to. I have pretty much fleshed out my summer wardrobe and shouldn't need much more until fall.
We ended the afternoon by joining Andy and going to see X-men. We had all been looking forward to seeing this movie. It is based on Charles' favorite cartoon which he has managed to get both Andy and I sucked into watching. So we were thrilled when we heard it was going to be a movie. I must say that I enjoyed it. I heard that if you were not already an X-men fan that most people weren't to fond of it. But amongst those who were already fans everyone seems to agree that they did a great job and hope that the next one will be even better.
On Sunday Andy and I did our obligatory breakfast/lunch/dinner out. this time it ended up being closer to dinner. We went to a Mexican restaurant, the one where we started this tradition for a early dinner then walked around the plaza. I had planned to spent the afternoon just cleaning house but got a call from Chris asking if I wanted to join him in going to the weekly beer-bust and AMFAR benifet. I changed into some long pants and we walked up to the club where it is held. I enjoyed myself. Chris seemed to have a number of friends there including a guy that as soon as he introduced us I remembered from college. We had traveled in concentric circles and hadn't really known each other.
Other than the fact that I find the MC bitchie comments to sometimes go over the limit into just rude or racist. I had a good time. I did run into John and Ray while I was there. I am sure the word will get back to Charles and I won't here the end of it. Even though we called it an early evening I was up until past midnight and slept like a log and had a hard time waking this morning. All and all I would say it was worth it.
And now I am back to work.
Ciao. |
