The Corners of the Mouth is holding its monthly poetry reading at Linneas Caf on Sunday, Sept. 18th at 7:00 PM. All poets and writers are encouraged to come early and sign up for the open reading that will follow the featured readers.
The featured readers will be Jim, Geoff, and Maegan Cain -- three generations of California poets who will be reading from their latest chapbooks.
Jim Cain, the father of Geoff Cain and the grandfather of Maegan Cain, has had a long and illustrious career teaching and writing in California and the Middle East. He is an active poet and stained glass artist who also enjoys being a guest teacher in local schools from time to time. His poetry has been previously published in the prestigious California Quarterly and in his own chapbook, Turquoise Laughter.
Geoff Cain writes poetry and fiction. His first novel, The Wards of St. Dymphna, was published in 2000 by SoCo Arts & Media. He works at California State University, Monterey Bay as an instructional consultant and at Hartnell College where he teaches English. His poetry has been published in such journals as The Sonoma Mandala, Tom Cat, Copperfield's Literary Review, and other fine publications.
Maegan Cain grew up on the Central Coast and currently resides in Oceano. She is a 16 year-old student at Arroyo Grande High, and her first poem was inspired by a drive to Los Angeles. She continues to explore her exterior and interior world through poetry. Her first poems are collected in the chapbook, Failing with Grace.
