| Yay for Biblical lessons! Yay for character developement! Yay for good storylines! Yay for The Poor Rich Guy. I really did enjoy this episode. Torry Martin did a good job of writing a captivating and pointed story. One of the best things about this episode was the lesson. It was Bible-based and was taught in an easy-to-understand way. Another positive thing about this episode was the character developement. Grady is a character who needs to be utilized before it's too late. Wooton's character was also furthered. I hope that the writers won't let the ball drop and will continue to explore the relationship between Grady and Wooton. Whit was hilarous in this episode. In fact, all the scenes with Whit, Tamika, and Marvin in them were amusing. The unfortunate thing is that if you write a character comedic lines than the character loses some of his sincerity. Such is the case with Whit in many episodes. Thankfully, Whit wasn't given all funny lines and did get some important things to say as well. But the problem is this: Does the listener remember the amusing things a character said or the important things a character expressed in an episode? Most of the time a listener remembers the funny lines of a character and forgets most of the important things a character said. Such may be the case with this episode. If you think back over this episode and can only remember the comedic things that happened in it and remember little of the message; then there wasn't much point in listening to the episode. I'm not saying that you shouldn't laugh at the funny stuff in an AIO episode, but there should be a healthy limit. Even though I just rambled on for a paragraph about something slightly negative, I really did enjoy this episode. I didn't connect with it on a personally level, but I have come to expect that from AIO in the last six or seven years. The Poor Rich Guy is an entertaining episode with an important message--I'm hoping it wins the End-of-Season Award for Best Moral! |
