The Champ of the Camp
read episode description...
AIO listeners haven't been treated to a camp experience for a long time. The Champ of the Camp is an episode that is long over-due, but still well-worth the wait.

As the show started, I began to lose interest. If a show does not get me excited in the first few minutes of the adventure, then most of the time I don't really enjoy the episode. After Connie's opening narration and the first scene or two, things began to get a bit more interesting. Things got even more interesting when divorce was mentioned...

Let me go on the record as saying that I think that AIO has really missed the mark in recent years at discussing relevant and important subjects. Such words as "divorce," "depression," and "death" are considered taboo by many Christians today, yet children need to hear a Christian perspective on such issues. I was glad to hear that AIO at least touched on the issue of divorce and how hard it can be on a child (especially at the age that Connie was in the story). I hope that AIO will continue to discuss such issues in the episodes and seasons to come.

Another highlight of this season opener was the startling revelation at the end. I won't mention what it was just in case you haven't heard the episode yet, but the divulgement really tied Connie's camp story in with present-day Odyssey. I suppose that aspect of the storyline was quite unrealistic, but it made the episode a bit more important in the hundreds of AIO episodes.

There was one thing about this episode that slightly let me down. The aspect of the show that disapointed me a little was the lack of a spiritual value. If I remember right there was a lesson (unfortunately it doesn't come to mind right now, even though I only recently heard it), but it was more of a moral lesson than a spiritual one. It was only a small thing about the episode that bugged me, but it did make the show less memorable to me.

Connie writing a book about Odyssey and her life is a great storyline for AIO.
The Champ of the Camp is a perfect start to her book. I just hope that in future episodes we'll hear spiritual lessons that we can apply to our life, instead of great moral message.
