Day 1 (7-8-98, Friday) Muscat-Lahore
 
 

Get together in the College of Science Parking Lot at 10:30 PM, drive to Seeb International Airport at 11.30 PM, departure MCT 2:00 AM (PK 2247, KHI-LHE, PK 372), arrival Lahore 7.15 AM (Friday), meet at the airport by Dr. Nawaz, Director, Institute of Geology in Punjab Univ. ,Lahore,  visit the Institute,  night stay at guest house.

Day 2 (8-8-98, Saturday) Islamabad
 
 

Departure Lahore 8:00 AM (PK 356), arrival Islamabad 8:50 AM, transfer to UGC guest house, visit Department of Geophysics at QAU, Rawal Dam, Margalla Limestone Quarry, and study the Urban Geology, night stay at UGC guest house.

Day 3 (9-8-98, Sunday) Islamabad
 
 

Day trip to the Salt range, visit Khewra Salt Mine, Kalar Kahar and back,  night stay at Islamabad.

Day 4 (10-8-98, Monday) Muzaffarabad
 
 

Early departure to Muzaffarabad, studying Murree sandstone and Kohala landslide, driving along  Jehlum river, night stay at AJK University guest house, Muzaffarabad.

Day 5 (11-8-98, Tuesday) Naran
 
 

Drive along Kaghan river to Balakot, Kaghan and Naran,  night stay at Naran.

Day 6 (12-8-98, Wednesday) Naran
 
 

Hike to  Lake Saif al Maluk and back,  night stay at Naran.

Day 7 (13-8-98, Thursday) Besham

Departure to KKH, study the geology along the road, some of the geological units are Hazara slates, Mansehra and Buttal granite,  night stay at Besham.
 

Day 8 (14-8-98, Friday) Gilgit
 
 

10 hour long spectacular drive along the Indus river, study the slope stability problems, visit proposed site for Basha Dam, night stay at Gilgit.

Day 9 (15-8-98, Saturday) Hunza

Drive along Hunza valley, study Gulmit and Pasu slates, visit gemstone factory in Karimabad, drive to Sust Check-post, night stay at Gulmit.

Day 10 (16-8-98, Sunday) Gilgit

Hike to Batura glacier and study the glacial landform, drive back to Gilgit,  night stay at Gilgit.
 

Day 11 (17-8-98, Monday) Swat

Drive to the valley of Swat via Shangla pass, night stay at Mingora.

Day 12 (18-8-98, Tuesday) Swat

Go up the Swat river and visit Kalam, night stay at Mingora.

Day 13 (19-8-98, Wednesday) Peshawar

Drive to Peshawar, on arrival, welcome by Dr. Qasim Jan, Vice Chancellor, Univ. of Peshawar, night stay at Univ. of Peshawar rest house.

Day 14 (20-8-98, Thursday) Lahore

Departure Peshawar 11:00 AM (PK315), arrival Lahore 12:00, visit the Museum of the Dept. of Mining Engineering, Engineering University, Lahore, night stay at guest house.

Day 15 (21-8-98, Friday), Lahore-Muscat

Departure Lahore 8:40 AM (PK479, KHI-MCT, PK 2250), arrival Muscat 12:15 PM.
