45 Rue Docteur Paccard
EX-PAT Home
Here are the initial pictures of the apartment that we bought.

It's a 2BR with 1  bath, 1 shower and 1 toilette. The living room has a balcony that is on the banks of the Arve River.

These are the 'before' pictures. The place was purchased with furniture, and has the look and charm of a 1970's hotel room - lots of dark brown details and stucco walls. However, it is a 61 square meter apartment, which, by Chamonix standards is large and rare, especially at the price we paid for it.

We have a roommate staying in the 2nd bedroom for the winter, and plan to start refurbishing in the Spring after our Vegas wedding....

No photos of the other rooms at the moment - just think 'Holiday Inn' white stucco boxes, and brown velvet curtains with large clunky chunky wood fixtures.
Galley kitchen which is attached to living room. Lovely brown decor throughout, and if you could only see the counter tops which don't line up or sit plumb! To the right, just out of the picture is the window shown below to the left of the fireplace.
Continuing from fireplace, to the right, is door to balcony and more stone wall. Bouldering, anyone? Yes, that is the river rushing past just outside the door. Yes, we do have flood insurance.
Fireplace in the living room (door to balcony is to the right, just outside this picture). Sorry, the stones stop here, so no fireplace traverse is possible.

Below is the view of the apartment from across the river. Ours is the small building with blue edging at the river's edge, and we have the apartment with balcony on the lower right-hand side, next to the yard. It runs into the building that we are butted up against, which is the Residence Paccard. Our entry on the other side is on the main street in Chamonix, next to the infamous Poco Loco all night sandwich shop! (Click for picture of the entry to the building we pass through to get to our apartment).
