I COULD NOT BEAR MY CROSS ALONE

by: Clay Harrison

I could not bear my cross alone
so weak and worn was I,
But Jesus sent a friend to help
And soon my tears were dry.

I could not find my way alone
through the dark, lonely night,
Then suddenly a friend appeared
and everything was bright.

I could not lift my heavy load
or face the day ahead
Until I met along the road
A friend with whom to tread.

I could not bear my cross alone
with such mountains to climb
Until I came to realize
He was there all the time!
