ALWAYS LOOK AHEAD

by: Shirley Takacs

When I look back on years gone by
I see the error of my ways.
But let me not build monuments
To senseless, empty, Godless days.

By looking back, I waste today
And add to my own sorrow.
While sifting through my deep regrets,
I'll also miss tomorrow.

So, let me use the lessons learned
That old mistakes are not to dread.
They're but a stepping stone to teach us
That we should always look ahead.

The God who gave me past and present,
In Holy Scriptures hast He said,
That He will guide my every footstep
If I but trust and look ahead.
