COMMONNESS OF LOVE & LURE

by: Michael Dubina

Hurry not, dear stranger,
To reach your journey's end;
Pass not by the works of God
That commonness attends;
Be not deaf or blind to see
Loves and lures He made to be:

See the loftiness of trees
In a forest's pride;
See the quiet strength of brawn
In a mountain's side;
Smell the fragrance of the flowers,
Blooming by your way;

listen to the woodland's brooks
Laughing, night and day;
Hear the happy songs of joy
Children sing at play;
Hear the melodies of life
All along your way;

Feel the freshness of the earth:
Feel the summer rain;
See the majesty of snow
Dress the barren plain;
Look to see the rising sun;
Breathe the air of dawn;

See the birth of every day
Where new hopes are born;
Touch the early morning dew;
Smell the new mown hay;
Rapture in a twilight's hues
At the close of day.

Hurry not, dear stranger,
To reach your journey's end,
See the wondrous works of God
That commonness attends.
Tomorrow may not bless your way
With the gifts you own today.
