FOREVER FRIEND

by: Grace E. Easley

Sometimes I get to thinking
Of the friendship that we share
And my heart is filled with gladness,
Just to know that you're there.

For you have a way about you
That is honest and sincere,
A happiness that radiates
And makes you very dear.

You have the art of making
The shadows fade away;
You bring an extra sparkle
To an ordinary day.

I never knew how poor I was
Until you came along:
You changed my tune of sadness
Into a happy song.

A cross is not so heavy
When it is borne by two;
Life's road is not so weary,
When I'm walking it with you.

Of all the gifts God has bestowed
And been disposed to send,
Not one of them could ever mean
As much as you, my friend.
