A HOUSE BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

by: Catherine Janssen Irwin

It's onlya house by the side of the road
But inside it's a home sweet and fair;
So dear are its humble furnishings
And God's love is evident there.

It's only a house by the side of the road
Yet, a palace could never compare,
As the people inside who live there with pride
Prefer it to life anywhere.

A family so loving, tender and true,
Unselfish in their daily tasks
Enjoying life's pleasures though in small measures
And willing to give what life asks.
