BE STILL AND KNOW

by: Eugene G. E. Botelho

Whenever you feel all alone
as if you're lost in night
and heavy clouds make things so dark
that shadows swallow light,

When noises of a busy day
have deafened you to sound
of crickets, songs of birds, and leaves
that rustle all around,

When even those you love seen gone,
althoughyou know they're near
wait for the whisper that will say,
"Fear not, for I am here."

If you will listen for God's words,
they'l echo in the breeze
and in the murmuring of streams
and in the chant of trees.

Not even rush and roar of streets
can be a cause of fear
for you can live secure in love
in knowing God is near.
