Our son, Alec was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive bone cancer. He was at school when a boy hit his arm with a game board. The tumor manifested itself and was growing at the rate of V4 of an inch a week. After going to several doctors in the area, Primary Children's diagnosed that he had cancer on July 26, 2003.
The chemo doctor and surgeon decided the tumor needed to be removed. On September 9, 2003, Alec went in for surgery .The tumor was removed. Dr. Randall was able to remove 99% with 1 % left. Radiation was considered and we decided to have his arm radiated. This went on for one and one-half months once a day. This was done at the University of Utah. We were able to keep his arm free of cancer.
Then the cancer had metastasized to his lungs. Alec was having rounds of Chemo with the radiation. He was very blessed and didn't get sick. He was able to maintain his weight and did well.
The problem he had was, he was suppose to go in for Chemo every two weeks after the week of treatment. It became harder to get him back. His blood was not rebuilding from the harsh Chemo. It was one week late then next time two weeks, this went on until his blood was about to the point of not rebuilding at all. This is potentially very risky at this point because Alec' s ability to fight the infection was very low.
At this point in June and July of 2004, the Doctors felt like it would be a good idea to have Thoracotomies to take the cancer out of Alec's lungs. This is a very painful operation. The Doctor takes the lungs out of the back and takes the tumors out of the lungs and puts the lungs back into the body. When they did this to his right lung the Doctor broke his ribs doing this.
A month later Alec had the next Thoracotomy. This was even more painful because the Doctor went into Alec's diaphragm to get rid of the cancer there. When all this was done Alec lost one third of his right lung. His left lung was also compromised because of all that was taken in the lower part of his lung.
A few weeks later when we did the CT Scans, the cancer was growing at an incredible rate. It was already three times larger than a whole year of growth. During the surgery Alec' s nerves were messed up in his eyes. He suffered a droopy eye from the surgery. We had to take him in for a MRT on the head. In doing this, they found he had a tumor in his left side of his brain stem. We were devastated and we were lost about what to do. They couldn't operate or do radiation. After several MRI's there was no change and Alec didn't show any sign that the mass was growing.
In the month of August Alec was in severe pain from the cancer growth in his lungs. He was hospitalized and then sent home. At this point we decided to take him to Alaska for his WISH. He felt well and had a good trip with the family. When we returned home we met with the Oncology team. They told us they didn't have a whole lot to go on now. They had talked with Osteo Doctors and many who specialized in this field. They didn't have any answers. We were told there were a few experimental things out there. One Doctor said if it were her child she would take the child home and keep him out of pain.
My husband and I always felt that Alec would be okay. We went to the temple and prayed for answers and help to know what to do. We had a few options, none of which we felt good about. Then our dear friend called us and said she knew of a Doctor who was curing cancer. I called Doc Ellestad and talked with him about his treatment.
We were still unsure of what would be best for Alec. Andy and I were in our bedroom praying for any help or relief of what to do when we received a phone call. It was Doc Ellestad who said bring your boy and bring him now. It was a Sunday. We immediately climbed into the car and took Alec to Doc Ellestad.
We began treatments in
September.
After two weeks of treatments two times a day, I said to Doc, "Will you
be
able to cure my boy?" Doc said, "Does the sun rise?" Doc has
been treating Alec and Alec had his arm operated on in between the
treatments.
Within a short time Alec' s tumor in the brain was gone. When Alec went
in for
the arm surgery, the tumors in the left side were gone. There is very
little
left in his right lung and we are hoping he is free of cancer in a
couple of
weeks. The Doc has worked with Alec's nerves and muscles to help Alec
to get
rid of the virus in his body.
THE REST OF THE FAMILY
The Doc has also worked on the rest of the family.
TERESA
Doc found the cancer virus in my lungs and small intestine. Before he worked on me, I about passed out, mowing the lawn and I would crawl to get back inside the house. After one or two weeks of treatments, I mowed the lawn without a break for two and a half hours. I was strong again and felt good.
DALLIN
Dallin is 14 and had cancer virus in his lungs and prostrate. He also had sensitivity to the fluorescent lights at school. Dal complained 24- 7 about his back. Doc did about 16 treatments on Dal's prostrate and now he does not complain about his back. Dal was always sick when he went to school. We enrolled him in Idaho Virtual Academy. He hasn't had one sick day since he got away from the fluorescent lights.
ANDY
Andy has a really very bad knee that he has had for years and it also has needed surgery for years. Doc did one treatment on his knee and that night Andy was running for the first time in years. Andy also was in a terrible motorcycle accident where he hurt his shoulder. Through treatment the Doc helped relieve pain.
DREW
When Drew went in for a consultation with the Doc; Drew's kidneys were really bad from him drinking pop. Now Drew has given up drinking pop and is drinking juices and lots of water.
Doc Ellestad has helped with our whole family. Our biggest stress and concern was Alec. I would recommend that if you have cancer, see the Doc first.
