·        PREREQUISITES:

- Lexicon and structures concerning familiar topics normally encountered in personal social life and referred to past and current actions and events.

- Knowledge of the past simple and present perfect of regular and irregular verbs.

- Knowledge of “must”, and structures such as “be allowed to”, ”be obliged to”.

·        OBIECTIVES:

Linguistic objectives:

- to reinforce the use of past tenses

- to talk about past habits or states using “used to”

- to use temporal connections.

- to increase lexical knowledge

Communicative objectives:

- To talk about one’s own past giving information and details about the date and place of birth;

- to talk about obligation and duties (speaking and interaction)

to write about someone’s past habits (writing)

- to talk about past experiences both negative and positive giving information about the time and the place of that event and what kind of feelings had characterised such situations.

- to compare past and present situations.

Functions:

- to describe usual actions that happened in the past;

- to describe something that people habitually did in the past but don’t do now.

- to understand specific information about people’s lives 

Can do Statements:

- Can describe past aspects of his environment e.g. people, places or study experiences.

- Can give clear, detailed descriptions of events.

- Can express personal opinions on topics that are familiar and pertinent to everyday life.

·        CEF LEVEL: A2/B1

·        COMPETENCES TO BE ACHIEVED:

- Linguistic competences: can express sufficiently him/herself on topics such as family, school and interests. 

- Socio-linguistic competences: Can perform and respond to a wide range of language functions using their most common exponents in a neutral register.

- Pragmatic competences: Can fluently relate a straightforward description as a linear sequence of points.

·        TEXTS TO BE USED:  From Text book, articles, reports.

·        TASKS TO BE PERFORMED: Conversation, work in pair, work in group,  

               individual work.

·         STRATEGIES INVOLVED:

- Can extrapolate the meaning of occasional unknown words from the context and deduce sentence meaning.

- Can summarise the point reached in a discussion.

- Can initiate, maintain and close simple face-to-face conversation on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

- Structured and half structured: completion, true/false, short essays, summaries.

- Range (general range and vocabulary range)

                    - Interaction (turntaking and co-operating strategies)

· REMEDIAL WORKS:

                  Revision about lexicon, linguistic functions and structures through 

                  exercises of fill in the blanks and guided dialogues
