| Animal Classification Performance Task:
Vertebrate Flip Chart � Find magazine or internet pictures of the five (5) different types of vertebrates. You need 2 (two) examples from each category: birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. When you have found all the pictures, you will have a total of at least 10 pictures. � Complete the information chart we have worked on in class which has the five categories of vertebrates, their characteristics, and a list of examples. � Use the completed information chart to complete your Vertebrate Flip Chart. Flip Chart Instructions/Materials: Materials: construction paper, animal pictures, glue stick or liquid glue, pencils, markers, Vertebrate Chart from class. 1. Bind together at least 8 pages of construction paper. You can staple it, bind it together with yarn, or use metal rings. Be creative. 2. The first page is the cover/title page. It must have a catchy title, illustrations, and your name on it. 3. The second page is the table of contents. It must have �Table of Contents� at the top, and then list the contents and page number for each page. 4. The next 5 pages are the content pages. Each type of vertebrate must have its own page. 5. Each content page must have a title, such as �Reptiles,� have correct information regarding the characteristics of that type of animal, and have at least two (2) labeled picture examples of animals which fit into that category. In order to meet the standard, your information must be in paragraph format. 6. You must be able to read and explain your own vertebrate flip chart. Part of the requirements for this performance task is that you present your information aloud in class. 7. You will receive additional credit for making your flip chart neat and attractive. In any case, it must be legible in order to meet the standard. 8. The final page is your bibliography. It lists the sources where you got your information from. List the books you used in alphabetical order (author�s last name). Make sure you remember to list the bibliography in your table of contents, and remember to number the bottom of your pages. 9. Your flip book may be typed or handwritten. If it is handwritten, it must be legible. If it is typed, you must do it yourself with MINIMUM assistance from parents. |
