1837OnLine - This pay site offers an index of English and Welsh births, marriages and deaths from 1837 to the present with images of the actual, official transcribed page upon which the recording appears. Searches are limited to the first three letters of a surname only and this site can get rather expensive. Certificates are obtainable on line directly through the records office. FreeBMD - This free site offers a partial index of English and Welsh births, marriages and deaths from 1837 through 1904. Some later records do appear on here as well, although the site falls within the 100 year privacy laws. A listing of record office addresses and phone numbers is also provided for ordering certificates.
ScotlandsPeople - This pay site is a searchable database of the official government records held for Scotland's births, marriages and deaths. It also provides downloadable images of censuses from 1881, 1891 and 1901. As well as offering viewable and downloadable images of certificates , stamped certificates can be ordered online.
1901 Census for England and Wales - This site offers a free index by name, address and even vessels. However, in order to view and download images payment is required.
Irish Origins - This pay site offers a free searchable database of Irish records for both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. However payment is required to view the records, including those found in Griffith's Valuation.
Burke's Peerage - This pay site presents the official genealogical records recognized by HM Queen Elizabeth II for peers, landed gentry and commoners of the United Kingdom. Contrary to what some may believe, Burke's does not "create" genealogies, but works closely with The College of Arms and The Lord Lyon under strict British laws regarding the right to bear arms and the passing of title and privilege to British Nobility.
