SSDI - This site offers a free searchable database of persons listed in the US Social Security Death Index, including Social Security Number, where issued and last known residence.

VitalChek - While this site does not offer a searchable database or index, it does offer a listing of all US records offices, including fee's and in some cases order forms.  Records can also be obtained through on-line ordering, however, VitalChek does charge a fee for this and it is much better to contact the records office directly.

Ellis Island.org - An excellent site for the researcher whose ancestors entered the US between the years 1892 and 1947.  This site offers a completely free searchable database of immigrants who passed through Ellis Island during its time of operation.  It also offers images of the original ship manifests available for download.  Images can be ordered form this site as well.

NARA - This site also does not provide a searchable data base of records and is a bit difficult to navigate.  However the NARA, the US National Archives and Records Administration, and holds such records as naturalization papers, military records and government employee records.  Records can be ordered through the site as well.

USGenWeb - This invaluable site is a must for the US reseracher. It contains a searchable database of indexes and images to wills, parrish transcripts, censues and much more; all of which can be downloaded. The main site address is a bit difficult to navigate so we have posted the link directly to the searchable databases.
