Tai, Sora, Kari, Izzy, Matt, Joe, T.K., and Mimi were walking through a familiar desert. It was very hot and Mimi started to complain. "Can't we gosomeplace cooler?!" Palmon hushed her down. "Ohhh . . ." Kari moaned,caressing her forehead. Gatomon looked at her. "You feeling okay, Kari?" Kari nodded weakly. Tai turned around. "Hey, Kari! Gatomon! Hurry up! We're almost there!" "Okay." Gatomon walked on. Kari limped behind. 'Something's wrong. Idon't feel so good.' She thought. She felt hot and dizzy. She moaned somemore, then fell to the ground.Tai heard a THUD behind him. He looked behind the group. "Kari!" Gatomon saw it, too. "Kari!" Sora and the others saw what happened. "What's wrong withher?" T.K. asked. Kari lay on the ground, shivering. Her eyes were closed andher mouth was open. Her face looked as if in pain. Her cheeks were red and she was soaking wet on the head, as if she were sweating in that area only.Tai gently placed a hand on Kari's forehead. Screaming, he pulled it away."Kari has a high fever!" He announced. Gatomon shed a tear that fell onto Kari's pain-stricken face. She and Agumon gently lifted her head up and placed a pillow under it. "I hope she'll be okay." Gatomon whined. "Me,too."Tai answered. They just had to get to the village soon. Sora rushed to the emergency box and pulled out a cloth. She dampened it into cool water and walked over to the weak Kari. She gently laid the cold cloth on the younger girl's forehead. "Ohh! Rrr!" Kari moaned and whined."Something's terribly wrong with her." Matt said. Tai agreed. "She needs medical attention pronto!" Agumon, Biyomon, Gabumon, and Patamon walked over to Gatomon. Gatomon was looking at Kari with tears in her eyes. "Don't worry,Gatomon." Agumon said, looking down at the smaller yet stronger digimon."She'll be fine." He smiled. Patamon smiled, too, looking eye-to-eye at Gatomon. She smiled a bit, then laid down by Kari's side. "Poor kid." Gomamon said, seeing what was happening. Palmon hit him. "Gomamon! This is serious!"That's just when Genaii appeared. "Genaii!" Tai screamed. On seeing Kari in her condition, Genaii was concerned. "What are her symptoms?" He asked. The kids just looked at each other. Izzy answered, "Her breathing is raspy and she only breathes through her mouth. She shivers yet she is wet and with a high fever. She'salways tired now and she looks as if in pain." After hearing these words,Genaii lowered his head. Gatomon sadly questioned, "Genaii, what's . . .wrong with her?" "Yeah." Tai and Gatomon looked at him. Looking up at them, he said the words that no one wanted to here. "She has a rare illness. It's called Respiratory Infection. Kari has all the symptoms. She will die soon because of high fever. It'll get worse every day. So far, there is only one solution." Tai asked him what to do to help her. "You need to get some ice and surround Kari in it in a cool place. It'll help bring down the temperature. That's all the help I can give you." He disappeared in a flash.Gatomon ran to Kari. She sobbed onto her body. The others sadly looked at her. Gatomon stood up, leaning forward towards Kari. Her ears lowered. A single tear ran down her white furry cheek and onto Kari's red face, which was hotby now. "Well, we can't just leave her there." Tai said. Izzy agreed, "That's right. Two of us should go and find Kari some medicine and some ice while the rest of us stays here." They looked at each other, unsure of who to send. Then all eyes laid on Tai and Izzy. "How 'bout you two?" Mimi asked. "Hmm?" Tai looked at his friends. He was about to object, but then he looked over at his sick sister.Kari's condition has taken a turn for the worse. Tears streamed down Tai's face as he stared at Kari, laying helpless on the ground with a rising fever.Turning to his friends and wiping away his tears, he said, "Okay, agreed. Come on, Izzy! The rest of you, watch over Kari. We'll be back." With that, he, Izzy, Tentomon, and Agumon walked off in the direction that Izzy had chosen. The rest of the kids stayed near Kari's side, unwilling to go anywhere. They heard a moan. Gatomon's ears perked. She looked over at Kari. Her eyes slowly opened and Kari looked around, confused of what happened."Wh-wha-what h-happened?" She asked weakly. Gatomon placed a paw on Kari's mouth and whispered, "Shhhh. Don't talk.You're very ill, Kari. Save your strength." Kari's brown eyes where only half open. She looked at Gatomon, then T.K., Matt, Joe, . . . but she couldn't seeTai! Where was Tai? And Izzy?! "Where's . . . Tai?" Kari choked out weakly. Matt told her that Tai and Izzy went off to find her some ice and some medicine. She smiled weakly and then closed her eyes, going off into a deep sleep once again. "Kari?" T.K. asked worriedfully. Matt hushed him. "She's sleeping. Let's not wake her up." The group settled down. Sora had a thermonitor in Kari's mouth, seeing what her temperature was. She walked over to her and gently pulled it out. Joe looked at it, locating where the liquid had stopped rising. Joe's face went white when he finally found it. Hedropped the thermonitor on the ground. "Well?" Matt asked. Voice straining, Joe managed to say, "Her fever is at 111 degrees. Everyone gasped."Now, where should we go?" Tai asked Izzy. He pulled out his computer to see which way to go. North, it said. Little did they know that a pair of evil eyes were watching them. MugenDramon emerged. "So, Kari is sick, is she?" He laughed evilly. He whistled. Tankmon appeared. "Yes?" MugenDramon pointed inthe direction of the village where the weak girl lay sleeping. "Destroy that village or destroy them!" MugenDramon then pointed towards Tai and Izzy.Tankmon decided on the boys. He took off in their directions. When he came within twenty feet from them, he fired his attack. "Bomb Attack!!""Huh?" Tai asked, turning around. He let out a scream. Agumon jumped in front. "Agumon, digivolve to . . . Greymon!!!" Greymon stood over the attack. "Nova Blast!" The lava ball destroyed the Bomb Attack. Tankmon appeared."Tankmon!" Izzy said. The evil digimon smiled evilly. He aimed his cannon at them. "Blazing Shot!" "I don't think so!" Greymon kicked Tankmon. "Nova Blast!" He shot another ball at him. This stalled some time. Tai, Izzy, and Tentomon climbed onto Greymon. They escaped. "What? They've escaped!" Tankmon growled. Injured, he wasn't willing to attack the village where the other kids were waiting. He returned to MugenDramon. Greymon ran out of the scene. Izzy got out his laptop and looked at it. Apparently MugenDramon was tracking them down. "They are?" Tai asked. Tentomon pointed at the screen as Izzy explained. "Yep. I need to crack a program so that they can't do it." He started to type on his computer. It wasn't long before the program was up. "Done!" Tai smiled. Greymon lowered himself to the ground, letting Tai, Tentomon, and Izzy off. He devolved back into Agumon. "That . . . was interesting." He said.Sora gasped as she heard the news. Kari's temperature was worse than she thought. It was over 110 degrees! That was bad. A tear rolled down her cheek. She looked at Kari. 'Please Kari, be okay!' she thought. Gatomon wasn't looking any better. She never left Kari's side ever since she got sick. She looked sadly at Kari, small tears on her face. She gently brushed Kari's hair. As she did, Kari started to whimper slightly. Her fever has gotten so bad that even touch hurt her. "Every thing's gonna be fine." Gatomon whispered to Kari. She settled next to her. Kari's right hand slightly moved from her side and she weakly grasped her whistle. Gatomon looked at this and her ears lowered again. Meanwhile, Tankmon was getting into trouble with MugenDramon. "You didn't kill them?!" He roared. "I couldn't. I was injured." Tankmon cried. He turned around and walked away. MugenDramon thought for a while. He decided to attack with something stronger. "I must kill that girl now! But how? Hey . . . I know!" He smiled evilly. Walking over to a large Dramon type digimon, he said, "MegaDramon! Fly up and burn down that village!" MegaDramon nodded andflew up. He heard MugenDramon call from below. "Destroy Tai and Izzy, too!"MegaDramon smiled evilly. The virus-type digimon flew in the direction of thevillage. He tried out his attack on some things. "Genocide Attack!" He cried,and completely destroyed a building. "This will be too easy!"He fired one Genocide Attack at Tai! Tai tried to jump out of the way, but failed! Luckily they weren't too far away from the village. "Patamon,digivolve to . . . Angemon!" Angemon grabbed Tai and set him on the ground. Izzy and the digimon walked over to them. They then saw MegaDramon flytowards the village. Tai gasped. "He is after Kari!" He rushed over to the village as fast as he could. MegaDramon saw where the other kids were. Matt looked up. "Oh, no! One of MugenDramon's henchman!" T.K. gasped. "We have to get Kari out of here, now!" Sora yelled. She rushed over to Kari. She picked her up. Gatomon looked up. "What's wrong?" "MegaDramon. Run!" Sora, with Kari in her arms, rushed over with Gatomon back to the others. Just then,"Genocide Attack!!!" A blast hit near them."Oh, my god! Oh, my god! Oh, god!" Tai said as he rushed over to the scene.There were no signs of his friends anywhere. Agumon and Tentomon couldn't see anything. Angemon devolved back into Patamon and flew over to T.K., which Tai couldn't see through the debree. "I hope they're . . . okay." Tai said. He then saw his friends in a building. They were okay! Then, MegaDramon appeared! "Now to finish you off! Genocide Attack!" He fired a blast at the building. "No!" Tai and Izzy cried. They watched in horror as a gap appeared and Sora, Matt, T.K., Joe, the digimon, Mimi, and the weak Kari all into awhole. They rushed over to the scene to try to help them out, but MegaDramon attack them! "Genocide Attack!" His attack hit near them, and Tai, Tentomon,Agumon, and Izzy fell into the other hole. All the friends found themselves in the sewers again. But Tai, Izzy, Agumon, and Tentomon have been seperated from the others . . .To Be Continued
