back
OF ZURGON AND ALUCARTON

So Zurgon fled back to his home
Taking with him the forsaken tome
As a secret kept in hiding
To the Magic's will his time abiding

But in Porre Village he could not stay
Perceived in a most strange way
Odd he's become since obtaining the book
An ill-fated turn Zurgon took

Into the Porre Mountains he did run
Shunning the light of blinding Sun
His new home a dampened cave
Shadows in the dark he must brave

For six months did he there dwell
Amongst rocky ledges and bottomless well
Only under moonlight did he emerge
Racked with tensions on the verge

One night startled to his feet
By sound of an intrusive beat
And a light thereby shone
Fear tingling down inner bone

"King Alucarton has come for you
Heiliger Diamant is hungry, too
Totenzauber it is I seek
In this darkened cave of stench and reek

Thus Zurgon fled with his book
To protect that which he took
Deep in the mountain he did flee
But closely pursued this enemy

To the bottomless well the pursuit led
Alucarton's lust now purely fed
A dead end the two had faced
Pupils fixated and hearts raced

"Back, you hound!  The book is mine
Fear you now thus Death shall dine!"
Though magic Zurgon could not extract
And such Death he claimed would not exact

Zurgon danced upon the rock
Sure feet prepared to dock
Adjusted eyes from Sunless days
Crooked ledges in darkened maze

Alucarton faired not as well
Close to slip to Hades' Hell
Scared was he of stretching gap
Lost in the dark with no map

Yet his sword did shed sparse light
His only save to play this fight
But was always a leap behind
Victorious strike he couldn't find

Chance came when Zurgon dropped the book
With a daring jump that he took
Delaying then to thus reclaim
And brought about his fatal shame

Just as he came to a stance
The strike he felt without a glance
And then he knew it was his doom
A shrilling cry filled the room

With the blow he then fell
Toward the mouth of the open well
Alucarton's pace did quicken
Thus his own doom was stricken

For Totenzauber he did reach
And his balance then did breach
Tumbling down with his foe
Into the darkness far below

Neither lived beyond that day
The Fellar weapons gone away
Surging river beneath rocky dome
The Ocean now their resting home
