The SEA      For John

A sea-gull
Flying with effortless ease
On wings of silken pleasure.
He swoops and swerves in the salty breeze,
A gypsy, with salt water blood.
Waves rising carelessly, crashing onto the shore.
Alone I sit and wait.
For what?..the thrill of this natural force
To beckon me.
As I watch you ride
Along the crystal wave
Feeling a pleasure of victory.
Away I walk ;   and sit
Watching you..and the sea..thinking,
How like that seagull Id like to be
A solitary beach his home,
He lives in freedom supreme.
