SHORT POEMS                        by  Geni
War

For a spirit is flowing
Covering the land
And the spirit is rejoicing
As the armies disband.
But another is crying
for the wounded
And another is praying
For the dead.
You fool: 'tis not the end,
The drama is not final
For the wounded can mend
And the dead are forgotten
But greed is eternal.
Prisoner of Fate

To be a prisoner
In this world of hate,
Guilty they say
As they sit playing judge.
Without listening to the truth
Without looking at the evidence.
Convicting you of sin,
Labeling you
Have they the right?
To sentence you?
So that your mind is tortured by memories.
He was one
      and lonely...
She was one
      and lonely...
A flame was lit
      both were two...
The flame grew higher
      two were one
             in ecstasy...
The flame exploded
      two were three
            and tearful...
Hah!

Watch it fall like a silent leaf
Watch it rise like the tallest skyscraper
Reaching.
Why can't man use Gardalf's wisdom
And think
And think
Oh why, oh why

Burn it, kill him
Raise steel and cement
And cause happinessHah!
Aren't they pretty,
The cities.
Doesn't the air smell sweet.
Hah!
A stolen tear.
shards of sadness pierce my chest
waves of sorrow nauseate me
a cold touch.. a last kiss
The umbilical cord severed
I drift
into the vastness
alone
