A Mothers Gift

Noreen Kilgariff,  my Mum loved and cherished by her 9 children and numerous grandchildren passsed away at 6am Sunday the 21st August,2000.

She was the bravest person I have ever met, with tolerance, understanding and compassion.
I miss her so very much, the hole she left within me, echo's daily through my soul.

I was with her when she lost conciousness, sitting alone by her bed  as we watched the dawn, the last she would see. I described  the colours, the  light, the beauty of the flowers we could see out that vast window in the early morning light. The silence was errie, as if nature knew this was her last, and unfolded itself in peaceful revernece. As she closed her eyes and the dawn turned to day.....  I wrote these words..
A Mother's Gifts

Compassionloveempathy
Understanding and tolerance
Simple things in all
Bit gifts that can make your life wondrous.

These are the things I take with me
As we lay you to rest
Back in the arms of your parents
Back in the arms of your man

I hope when you look down at me
You are proud in what you see
And realise all the good I might show
Was a gift from you to me

No words  can show the emptiness
That  your going has left with me
But I know in my heart
That it was time for you to receive

A life of uncomprimised sacrifice
Of caring for all those in need
Your steps are too big for me to walk in
But their imprint my soul they did feed

I know there will be times
When in pain I will call out your name
Seeking the  guidance and love you always gave me
All the nurturing that kept me sane

But through your teachings, I shall stay strong,
Even when the road seems too painful and long
And through the strength you gave to me
I shall spread youre the magic of your song

Tolerancecompassion and love
Empathy and understanding
Are the gifts you gave to me
So that I may pass them on
And keep your spirit alive for eternity

Generations ahead will show the mark you left
And your words will grow stronger
As the life spirit you had
Gives birth again and again
