South Australia
The Yorke Peninsular
My most favourote spot on earth has to be the Yorke Peninusla, on the South coast of South Australia.  I have been going there since I was a teenager and old enough to go camping with my friends for the summer and long weekends. This place became my playground, my paradise and my place of solice, over the years. The place is changing slowly from when I first started going there some 30 years ago, but it still holds what makes it special. Beautiful clean coastline that takes your breath away again and again at every cove or turn. What I love about it is its isolation, though only 3.5 hours from Adelaide, there is nothing of the city we left behind there. No advertising signs, no fast food outlets, no amusemnet parks or sideshow alleys. Nothing but nature as nature intended. It is there I sit many hours and relish in the beauty around me.
The power of the ocean as it pounds away on the cliffs, the pictureque views of fishing beaches and tiny hidden coves. At the tip of the peninsular is the Innes National park. There you will find the rugged coastline that lays secret to many beautiful private coves. There is wildlife in abundance, kangaroos, emus and malley fowls. Wild flowers bloom prolifically in the spring, though tiny, the colours and forms are truely amazing from such an arid region.
In the middle of Innes National Park is Inneston, an old ghost town that the regions residents have been restoring. Walking around what is left of the old town is an amazing adventure, seeing for yourself how they lived at the turn of the century in such harsh remote conditions, can only humble you and make you realise how easy we have it now. There is so much I could say about the Yorke Peninsula, but i think these photos will say it all.
Willyama Beach, is named after a ship which sunk of the reef..as many did along these trecherous waters...Just behind Marion bay, the last stop before the Innes National PArk, it is where we usally stay when we go away.
Pondilowrie Bay - Fishermans Beach -
This beautiful bay is a favourite for the fishermen, with catches such as whiting, snchapper, garfish and an assortment of other great eating fish. Dolphins are seen quite often playing amoungst the boats. This beach is in the national park and the other end is a famous Pondi surf beach.
Coastline of Cape Spencer
Just one of the awesome coastlines surrounding the peninsular.
