| The South Eastern Coast of SA is full of so many things to do. Filled with glorious beaches and beach towns, it is the entry to the Great Ocean Road, one of the most spectacular coastline roads in the world. The South East is known for many things. Mount Gambier is home to the Blue Lakes. Three interlinking dormant volcanic lakes of unknown depths, that turn an eerie bright blue each year for a few short months. These lakes are filled by underground water sources. It is not known why it turns blue but is a spectacular sight. Robe is just before Mount Gambier, a friendly beach town known for good fishing and a great family holiday retreat, also known for its 'spring water barramundi'. Inland you will find the Naracoorte Limestone Caves. with the majestic "Wedding Cake" stallicnites. This World Heritage Listed illuminated cave system filled with prehistoric fossils provides a glimpse back in time, to illustarte how this unique region was created . Lobster and prawns (shrimp) are fished here as an industry, and close by is the famous Coonawarra wine region, known for its 'Lime stone Ridge", which helps produce the finest in Australian wines. |

The land itself is special: An ancient limestone plateau created when the Great Southern Ocean once covered these lands, now blanketed by deposits of rich alluvial soils atop iys pourous surface, a lbryrinth of deep caves and vast underground water reserves beneath. This complaex land is the secret to the prosperity of much of the Lime Stone Coast, from beef cattle grounds to the lush forrests, it is a well spring of great bounty. |
