What to Bring to Workshop

Simple directions from anywhere: Take I-91 to Exit 3. Exit 3 merges with Trumbull Street, headed west. At second traffic light, turn RIGHT onto Whitney Ave. The Hall is just past the second traffic light, on the right.
Travelling I-95 north, bear left onto I-91, and Exit 3 is the first possible
exit on I-91.
I-95 southbound, stay in right lane over the Q Bridge (Pearl Harbor Bridge),
bear right onto I-91 north, take Exit 3.
Southbound on I-91, take Exit 4, turn RIGHT onto Humphrey Street. At second traffic light, turn RIGHT onto Whintey Ave. Hall is immediately on right.
There is limited parking next to the hall. There is much more (free) parking across Whitney Ave in the Peabody Museum lot. It is possible to pull up the right side of the building and unload, then park across the street.
Masonic Lodge Building, 285 Whitney Ave., New Haven, CT
Enter through the door on the right of the building (as viewed from Whitney Ave), not the front doors.
We will be in the main room, downstairs. Go down to the right after entering the door.
Parking lot is small, use the parking lot across the street if possible.

The hotel is 4.4 miles north (turn right out of Hall) on Whitney Ave., near the Junction of Rte 15, the Merritt Parkway.

What to bring to the workshop: Necessary items:
The first and very important is: MANUAL FOR SEWING MACHINE. Even though all sewing machines work on the same principles, they are all different and having the Manual is the first step for Maggie to diagnose a problem. People won't be turned away without one, but it makes life much easier to have it.
Sewing machine that works. A recent Clean/Oil/Tune-up helps.
Screwdriver for machine. (Small enough to remove throat plate & adjust
tension)
12 EMPTY bobbins that fit the machine.
Spare package of needles, #14 (90) Regular Point.
Needle threader
Thread: HB (or HSB) 33 nylon or V-30 Polyester only.
Thread: This is important:V-30 polyester or HB (HSB) 33 nylon thread. NO
Coats & Clark.
(If you don't have this thread, make sure you have the empty bobbins !!!!)
Possible thread substitutes: (small diameter only - NOT coat or button
thread)
Güterman, Mölnlycke, or Mettler Metrosene polyester thread.
Scissors (& sharpener)
Pencil (& sharpener)
Seam ripper
Notebook
Nice to have items:
Thread stand
Hot Knife, Hot Tacker
Appliqué Scissors (note: good cheap pair may be made from Fiskars
9507 Craft Scissors, $7)
Sharpener for scissors.
4 foot Straightedge
Framing square
Nylon scraps to tension machine
I will bring:
Extra sewing machine that works.
Some tools to fix some machines.
