ESSEX COUNTY, VIRGINIA WILL BOOK 1743-1747 (p.94); 1744


IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, I William Jones of the County of Essix and Parrish of Saint Anns being sick and weak of body but of perfect sence and memory do make this my last Will and Testament revoaking and disannulling of any Will or Testament hearetofore by me made and this and no other to be taken for my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Vizt.

Itum I Lend to my Wife, Elizabeth Jones all my Estate real and personall during her naturall life, excepting three Negroes and my Rideing Horse, the Negroes by name, Nan a Negro woman; Icaack a Negro boy and Rose a Negro girle now in postion of Cornelias and Martha Saile and them and the Horse abovesaid I give and bequeath to my Son in Law and Daughter Martha Saile and thare Incrase to them and thre haires for Ever; Also I give and bequath to my Son in Law and my Daughter, Cornelias and Martha Saile, after my Wife, Elizabeth Jones, decease the Plantation I now live on and all the Land thereunto belonging to them and theare haires for Ever;

Itum I give to my Son, James Jones, Tenn pounds corant money to be paide out of the ramander of my Estate and after that Tenn pounds is paide to my Son, James Jones, all the ramander of my Estate I leave to be equally devided amongst my three Daughters, Marth Saile, Hanach Saile and Ann Goode and my Will and desire is that my Estate be Inventoryed but not apraised;

And Lastly, I do constitute and apoint Cornelias Saile Junr. hole and sole Extor: of this my last Will and Testamt. in Witness hereof I have sett my hand and afixed my Seale this 19th day of Octor: 1743, thare Incrase and the word I now live on interlined before asined

At a Court held for Essex County at Tappa: on the 20th day of March Anno Dom: 1743. This last Will and Testament of William Jones deceased was presented in Court by Cornelius Sale, the Executor therein named, who made oath thereto, and being proved by the oaths of Nathaniel Fogg & Sarah Bastin both of the witnesses thereto, was admitted to Record and is truely recorded

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we Cornelius Sale Junr. and Nathaniel Fogg are held and firmly bound unto Robert Brooke, James Garnett, William Daingerfield, John Rowzee, Henry Young, Rice Jones and Simon Miller Gent., Justices of the peace for the County of Essex in the sum of Three hundred pounds Strling, to the which payment well and truely to be made we bind our selves our heirs firmly by these presents; Witness our hands and seals this 20th day of March Anno Domini 1743

THE CONDITION of this obligation is such that if the above bound Cornelius Sale, Executor of the last Will and Testament of William Jones deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all the goods chattles rights and crdits of the said deceased and the same so made do exhibit in the County of Essex at such time as he shall be thereunto required by the said Court and the same goods chattles & credits do well and truely administer according to Law and further do make a just and true account of his Actings and Doings therein when thereto required by the sd. Court and also do well and truely pay & deliver all the Legacies contained in the said Testament as far as the said goods chattles & credits will thereunto extend according to the value thereof and the Law shall charge him, then this obligation to be void and of none effect, else to remain in full force power and virtue

At a Court held for Essex County at Tappa: on the 20th day of March Anno Dom: 1743 Cornelius Sale & Nathaniel Fogg acknowledged this Bond to be their act & deed which is ordered to be recorded and is truely recorded.
