WILL OF PETER DUNCKELBERGER, DECED.


BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA; 1761


This Day of 9th September 1760
I Peter Dunckelberger in good Understanding have caused two Men to come to be Witnefses how is after my Death, when God the Lord shall take me from this World, to wit this is my Last Will That my Wife and Small Children shall remain on & enjoy the place and all that I have under my Hand, with the Implements of Husbandry and enjoy the fame till my Son Johannes is fourteen Years old. Then he shall be put to fuch a Trade as he shall incline to learn, and then the Improvement with the Implements of Husbandry shall be let out till he is 21 Years old, and there shall be given to my Wife for her Maintenance & necefsaries of Life as follows for the first She shall have 8 Bushells of Rye and 8 Bushells of Wheat and four Rows bearing Appletrees where she will, more 80 pound good Swine Flesh and one half Quarter of Beef - and one Cow wintered for her She shall have her Choice every Spring more an half Acre of Flax which shall be fowed by his Flax.

More fhe shall have 15 Shillings in Money every Year and the Grain shall be taken to the Mill for her and the Meal shall be brought Home again and the Firewood shall alfo be hauled to the House, and if she will ride at any Time he shall find her a Horse with Saddle and Bridle, More she shall have a Seat in the House, in the Stove Room and in the Kitchen and in the Garret and she have the Right and Privilege in all the Buildings, and her Bed she shall have before hand, More this is my Will when my Son Johannes is 21 Years old he shall take Pofsefsion of the place with the Implements of Husbandry and in one Year after he has taken pofsefsion of the place he shall give the first Child ten Pound, and afterward, every Year thence forth till each Child shall have reced. ten Pound And if Johannes should die, or will not take poffeffion of the place, My son Johan Peter shall have the place, and if neither of the two will have the place it shall be fold at Vendue.

This shall be held inviolably ______ I fubscribe with my own Hand and Seal with my own Seal in the presence of Witnefses.

Reading Berks County Pennsylvania Ss. The 4th Day of January Anno Domino 1761. Then personally appeared Philip Kalbach one of the Witnefses to the foregoing Writong purporting to be the Last Will or Codicil of Peter Dunckelberger deceased. And upon his folemn Oath on the Holy Evangelists did depose and say that he was present and saw and heard Peter Dunckelberger the Testator therein named fign seal publish and declare the fame Writing to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the Time of the Doing thereof he was of sound Mind Memory and Understanding as he verily believes. And further that the name Philip Kalbach hereto subscribed is of the proper Hand Writing of him the Deponent by him thereto fubscribed (together with Jeremie Chappelle the other subscribing Witnefs) as Witnefs thereto in the presence of each other and at the Request and in the presence of the said Testator.

Then personally appeared Jeremie Chappelle one of the fubscribing Witnefses to the foregoing Writong purporting to be the Last Will or Codicil of Peter Dunckelberger deceased. And upon his solemn Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did depose and say that he was present and saw and heard Peter Dunckelberger the Testator therein named fign seal publish and declare the same Writing to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the Time of the Doing thereof he was of sound Mind Memory and Understanding as he verily believes; And further that the Name Jeremie Chappelle hereto fubscribed is of the proper Hand Writing of him the said Deponent by him thereto fubscribed (together with Philip Kalbach the other fubscribing Witnefs) as Witnefs thereto in the presence of each other and at the Request and in the Presence of the said Testator.

Inventory of Peter Dunckelberger

A true and perfect Inventory and Appraisement of all and Singular the Goods and Chattels Rights and Credits which were of Peter Dunckelberger late of the Township of Windsor in the County of Berks Yeoman deceased.

1761 March 25th. We the Subfcribers do, upon a careful & faithful Appraisement, valu the perfonal Eftate of Peter Dunkelberger deceased, as the fame was exhibited to us by Elisabeth Dunkelberger Widow of the faid Deced., at Forty nine Pounds Twelve Shillings and fix Pence. Witnefs our Hands the Day and Year aforesaid.
