 September 2002 - February 2003

Medical/Nursing Careers Internship course offered by the Regional Occupational Program.  Spent several weeks learning medical topics (including anatomy, infection control, ethics, and medical terminology), and medical tasks (including CPR, taking vital signs, and “hands-on” patient care).  Earned certification in CPR.  Also completed a simple research paper on Parkinson’s Disease.  Spent the remaining weeks of the course with an internship at a local hospital (Saddleback Memorial Medical Center) one or two nights each week for three hours.  Worked in radiology, post-operative care, maternity, and the emergency room.

February 2002 - June 2002

Microsoft Office course offered by ROP.  Built on previous knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point and gained a comprehensive understanding of all three programs.  Earned the “Distinguished Scholar” medallion (awarded annually to one student in each course) for my performance in the class.

June 2001 - August 2001

Website Development course offered by the southern California branch of the Regional Occupational Program (ROP).  Learned HTML and Adobe GoLive.  Developed a personal website with a restaurant critique theme, though it was never published due to time constraints at the conclusion of the course.  Used my knowledge of Adobe GoLive to learn Microsoft Frontpage on my own, which is the program I now use.
