Crush: This is simply the wild swing of a dwarven warrior wielding a hammer. It originates from times when smiths were forced into battle using the only equipment they were comfortable with. Now it is as potent an attack as chop is. Battlerage: An ancient dwarven battle tactic that has distinguished the dwarven race to be a nuggety and tough people. Battlerage allows the dwarf to take hits better than normal, or attack with wild abandon. One may battlerage fiercely or battlerage aggressively. Weapon specialization: Once a clan member reaches the rank of Warrior, he may decide then whether he wishes to stick with axe as his weapon of choice, or change over to club. This can be done at the the guild trainer, where one simply can club. If one wishes to return to axe specialization, they can, with axe. Note, the penalty of changing ones specialization is the complete removal of the other weapon skill. > help clan battlerage THE ANCIENT ART OF BATTLERAGING =============================== From times now long forgotten, dwarven warriors have been reknown for their stubborn ferocity in battle. Often the bards sing of dwarves taking blows that would normally take down a great oxen with a mere shrug and a laugh, giving them the reputation as tough opponents at the best of times. Most races put this ability down to a dwarven phenomena, coming from their time spent in the mines and at the forges they so dearly love. Few realise that this is actually a dwarven art in itself, an art that has coined the term of 'battleraging'. When a dwarven warrior enters the state of a battlerager, they have truly embraced that moment of the battle. Blows roll off their nuggety frame, ineffective, as the passion for battle engulfs that warrior. A dwarven warrior may enter one of two battleraging states. One where they 'battlerage fiercely', or one where they 'battlerage aggressively'. Battleraging fiercely is the normal state of battleraging. Here it seems the warrior's skin has hardened, and blows do not effect that warrior as they would others. As shields have always been a traditional dwarven piece of armour, this battleraging form is more effective when one is worn, although one is not necessary to enter such a state. Battleraging aggressively is where the dwarf throws caution to the wind, and throws himself into the battle with wild abandon. In this state, the dwarves mighty chop swing becomes far more dangerous. Still, this aggressive posture comes at a cost, with the dwarves defence being seriously affected. Only experienced battleragers may enter into this state. Battleraging is physically demanding even to dwarves, yet a prepared dwarf may not notice these effects at all. > help clan chop&crush THE CHOP SPECIAL ATTACK OF THE NEIDAR CLAN ========================================== This is the traditional attack of the hill dwarves of Ansalon, a mighty swing with an axe at an opponent. For it to work, you need: a) An axe of some kind. b) An opponent of some kind. c) At least some skill in chopping. Over the many years dwarves have lived on this continent, dwarves have often come into confrontation with other races, in particular goblinoid races. This has lead to A deep seeded hatred to all who are ogres, giants, trolls, goblins, hobgoblins and minotaurs, that fuels the dwarves chop attack to greater effect. To conclude, a few choice words from a few old dwarven warriors: 'A good axe cleaves better' 'A strong arm splits skulls' 'Goblin blood may be poisonous, but gobbo steaks still taste good to me!' THE CRUSH SPECIAL ATTACK OF THE NEIDAR CLAN =================================================== The crush special attack is in all practical sense the same as chopping to dwarves... Those who can chop can quite easily crush. Most Hill Dwarves tend not to use bludgeoning weapons though, as most enjoy the blood and gore that comes so readily when fighting goblins and giants with a great waraxe. Still, there are a notable few, such as the renown dwarven smiths, and a number of dwarven heroes who prefer the warhammer in battle, making crush their speciality. > help clan council COUNCIL OF THE NEIDAR CLAN ========================== The leader of the clan is the Thane of the Hill Dwarves. As it says in the rules, what he/she says, goes. It is his job to punish/expel unruly members. The dwarven Elders are the Thane's councillors. Their job is to advise the Thane. They are also responsible for screening and choosing applicants who wish to join the clan. > help clan emotes EMOTIONS OF THE CLAN WARRIORS ============================= Those emotes with a <> after them refers to an optional command. Other races on Krynn foolishly believe that dwarves are deviations created by the chaotic magic following the freeing of the Greystone. The notion that dwarves share blood with kender and gnomes is utter blasphemy, and such ideas more often than not start wars. Many great dwarven kingdoms have risen and fallen over the eras. Kal-Thax and Thoradin are two such kingdoms. One that still stands is that of Thorbardin, home to the mountain dwarves. Before the cataclysm, some 350 years ago, hill dwarves used to live on the plains and hills surrounding that kingdom, trading with those inside. Then came the fury of the gods, angered by the arrogance of the mortals, they tore the land asunder in what is now known as the cataclysm. Famine and darkness spread through the lands and Reorx no longer answered the cries for help from his children. During these dark times, the mountain dwarves betrayed the hill dwarves, locking them out of the dwarven homeland of Thorbardin, leaving their families to starve on the plains and be ravaged by the wild beasts that appeared in these now decimated lands. This lead to the Dwarfgate Wars, where dwarf fought dwarf, and where many on both sides died. For the first time in history, the Clans were split, and the enmity between the hill dwarves and mountain dwarves was of such hatred that it still survives today. After the Dwarfgate Wars, the Neidar Clan scattered across the continent, settling in rugged plains and hills. Some made there way to a secure valley in Estwilde which they settled and called Iron Delving. For more information on the history of the dwarves, the library in Palanthas is a fine source (even if it was written for humans). > help clan pipe PAGE ON THE USE OF ONES PIPE ============================ Pipe smoking has been a part of dwarven heritage for almost as long as drinking strong brews, and most dwarves rarely go anywhere these days without at least one travelling pipe to keep them company while travelling the long roads or climbing the high mountains. For the novice pipe user, follow the following directions on how to use a pipe: a) You must have a pipe. b) You must have tobacco. Dwarven tobacco is probably the easiest to come by, but then any tobacco you come across can be smoked just as easily. c) . Without tobacco in your pipe, you can only smoke air, which is just not the same. d) . Note: Tobacco burns rather quickly, and will eventually burn out. e) At this point, you have a full, lit pipe, and have a number of options. You may: *, * out your nose, * someone, *, *, *, *Make the cherry of your pipe glow merrily with , * with tobacco, * your beard (or whiskers) with your pipe, * about being out of tobacco, *or look at someone suspiciously over your pipe with . f)You may also your pipe at any point. So! Fellow dwarves take pride in your pipe! And always make room for some tobac in your pouches! Feel free to send pipe ideas to Arman > help clan rules CLAN RULES ========== *The Thane of the Hill Dwarves is the King and ruler of the clan. What he/she says, goes. *Gully dwarves and Krynn mountain dwarves may not join the clan. *As soldiers of the Army of Angmar are goblin-friends, they cannot join the Clan. Clan members view these dwarves as 'muddled in the head'. *Dwarves are a proud and honourable race in their own way. One must act as such at all times. (Note, I am not going to write down what it is to be honourable. The knights may need it to be written down, but dwarves don't.) *The clan values its independence, and goes to great lengths to protect it. As such, they are voting members of the Whitestone Council on Sancrist, a body representing the free people of Ansalon, dedicated to their protection. Voting members of this council include the people of Northern Ergoth, the Solamnian knights, and the hill dwarf clans of Ansalon. *Attacks against other guild homes are not permitted unless the Thane allows it. A dwarven saying is that trouble comes back two-fold, and so trouble-makers are discouraged. *Clan comes first. That means that a clan member may never attack another clan member, and must always stand beside a clan member if threatened or attacked, regardless of who it is by. Likewise, a clan member should not attack or threaten a player who is teamed with a clan member without giving _at least_ an explanation of why. This is the most important of rules. Those who have a problem with another clan member should take that problem before the Thane. *Protecting Iron Delving is important. Attackers should be driven off if possible. Hunting down such attackers is not frowned upon. > help clan titles TITLES OF THE NEIDAR WARRIOR CLAN ================================= Titles are divided as male/female where appropriate Bloodbrother/Bloodsister of the Neidar Clan Clansman/Maiden of Iron Delving Shieldbearer of Iron Delving Solemn Shieldbearer of Iron Delving Raw Axeman/Raw Axemaiden of Iron Delving Axeman/Axemaiden of Iron Delving Hardened Axeman/Hardened Axemaiden of Iron Delving Bold Axeman/Bold Axemaiden of Iron Delving Warrior of the Neidar Clan Scarred Warrior/Whiskered Warrior of the Neidar Clan Experienced Warrior of the Neidar Clan Respected Warrior of the Neidar Clan Skilled Warrior of the Neidar Clan Fierce Warrior of the Neidar Clan Venerable Warrior of the Neidar Clan Battlerager of the Neidar Clan Stubborn Battlerager of the Neidar Clan Wild Battlerager of the Neidar Clan Fearless Battlerager of the Neidar Clan Mighty Ogreslayer of the Neidar Clan Renowned Trollslayer of the Neidar Clan Epic Giantslayer of the Neidar Clan Legendary Hero/Legendary Heroine of the Neidar Clan Clan Warleader of the Hill Dwarves Clan Chieftain/Clan Matriarch of the Hill Dwarves ================================================= Thane of the Hill Dwarves ================================================= Council members have Dwarven Elder attached to the beginning of their clan title. >
