Servant of the Ages

Thru dusty ruins I have walked
Places wasted by time
Where mighty conquerors once stood tall
Now, the only footsteps are mine
Statues of gods and chambers of gold
Empires forgotten and legends untold
Doomed heroes and epic wars
Watched by the sand and the stars

In ancient palaces I have waited
Time destroying all around me
With the silence of aeons to keep me company
And the voices of ghosts to guide me on my way
Vast halls of splendour and might
Darkest dungeons where prisoners rotted in the night
Mystic sorcery and hidden conspiracies
All are gone, all but me

Servant of the ages since the dawn of time
I was the only one alive to see the first sun rise
When the dust finally settles and all is at peace
I will be the last one standing, and bring empires to their knees
When the world stops turning and the moon never sets
I will rule an empty world, for I am but a Servant of the Ages

Long forgotten prophecies foretold, dark skies behold
The end of another era
Eons elapse, time passes on
But for I, as quick as a shooting star fall
Watching the world turn with eyes that never close
How long have I been here, is a mystery no-one knows
Alexander, Caesar, Khan and Napoleon
Magnificent armies, destroyed to the last one
The greatest conquerers history has known
All are gone, all but one
The one that remains, the one that am I
A servant of the ages since the dawn of time

When no tommorrow dawns and the stars give up and die
I will be there to bid them bye bye
I will watch the sun fade away, taking the universe with him
And I will laugh to myself, for I know I will exist in the darkness therein
Civilizations come and civilizations go, the future was rewritten
Gods create and gods destroy, their whims played out by millions

Through dark skies and night clouds and hellish wastes
I have watched the world turn slowly on its way
I have seen gods come and go, I have seen the sun be born and burn
I have seen things other mortals do not dream exist
Nightmares from time immemorial and visions prehistoric

Through dark skies and night clouds and hellish wastes
I have watched the world turn slowly on its way
I saw thru my eternal eyes, how they crucified the Christ
And made heroes of those who made millions die
I have seen the seas restlessly churn and bury dynasties under its waves
But I alone have survived, for I am the servant of the ages

Servant of the ages since the dawn of time
I will be the only one alive to see the first sun rise
When the skies finally calm and the waves are at ease
I will be the first one there, and see the world in infancy
When the world turns again and the children take their places
I will see them all, for I am the Servant of the Ages.
