Cry of Mercy

Is this the cry of mercy?
Then shed, my one last tear
A mother's child, love desecrated
Crime unpunishable, forever unforgiven.

Is this the cry of mercy?
When a loved one screams for help?
In the quiet night air, piercing but never heard
Gone without a trace and never seen again.

Is this the cry of mercy?
Barely heard among the screaming night wind?
A forgotten desolation, a barely-missed lamentation
The cry of mercy never to hear.

Is this the cry of mercy?
The innocence torn apart
The lifeblood of young, spilt upon the ground
Witnessed by the moon and her stars.

Is this the cry of mercy?
The loss of life of one so young
A tear on the floor, one so dear, here no more
The voices of songs unsung.

Is this the cry of mercy?
A crime witnessed by the night
When the eyes of darkness behold the unspeakable
An act untold, a slaughter unthought.

Is this the cry of mercy?
When the angles bow their heads in sorrow
And the demons pause for thought?
A nightmare of reality, a kiss in times morose
Sweet suicide of love, the lover's pain to behold.

Is this the cry of mercy?
When the moon laughs with icy chills
And the stars behold with bated breath
As the blood of the young spills
Upon the cold ground
In the final death.

Is this the cry for mercy?
A sob for thee, a scream in the dark
A time lost forever, a lover's soft betrayal
Sweet lullabye...sweet lullabye.

Kiss the kids goodnight before you turn the lights out.
