| My sweetheart of the stars. I have always been in love with Obi-wan, even when he was the old guy on ANH. There was just something about him then. Of course now...Boy did they get a hunk to play him for the new movies. George does a good casting job. Currently played by the absolutly genious and goodlooking, Ewan McGregor, Obi-wan is a simple, thoughtfull and manytimes confused Jedi. As the young man in the prequel trilogy, he was still on his journey into manhood and being a true Jedi when he met the young Anikin Skywalker due to his Master Qui-gon' dealing while attempting to hide the Queen of Naboo from the evil Trade Federation. Obiwan had many disagrements with his master. In many ways Qui-gon seemed more reckless than Obi-wan because he was always insisting on putting other's ahead of himself, even if the other being was not worth the risk. Obi-wan honored life but did not understand it the way Qui-gon did. He didn't understand why Qui-gon would go against logic and orders from athorities so often. However, like a good Jedi, Obi-wan respected his master's wishes and went along with any of his ideas. As soon as Qui-gon found he could not get Anikin in to the Jedi Academy, he gave Obi-wan status as a full knight and took Anikin on himself. The Council refused, and Anikin's fate was left tabled. Obi-wan then accompanied his master to Naboo to fight the evil Phantom Menace. When Darth Maul kills Qui-gon, Obi-wan continues to fight the Council until they allow him to train Anikin. Obi-wan is now faced with the task of training a young restless 10-year-old while still learning to be a Jedi himself. |
