The Appearance

They have a large, bulky, and muscular look about them. Many have well defined muscles but some may not. Most of the time they are hunched over but can stand straight. Their skin is generally red and they have immoble tentacles jutting out of their face and or neck, sometimes behind the ears. They usually have green or yellow glowing eyes. Their skin is mostly smooth but they may have scales and even feathers jutting out, but they are sparce. They also have brown hair on the back which runs up to the back of the neck in a line all the way up to the head. The hair is usually kept short but may be put in different styles, like braided, for instance. They all have hooves in place of feet but not all are cloven hooved. The hooves only add to their demonic appearance. They also have large horns on the head and chin. Some have smaller horns while some have hardly any at all.

Many of them look not a day over 50. Since they are immprtal, which means they cannot die from natural aging, this makes sense. many Doom Guards have sharp teeth [inscisors], and have broken horns. This adds to their tough appearance seeing as they are, in fact, of the warrior class.

They are usually as are around 10 feet tall. Some are larger [20"+] or smaller [7"].

Not impressed by the massive size and strength of the Doom Guard? Okay, imagine this...You are driving home one day and you get out of your car and then all the suddon a dark portal opens and a DG steps out. Let's say you have a pet, a ferocuius rottwihler, who grows and barks wildly with teeth beared and spit flying from his mouth. The dog charges at the beast to try to protect you only to become a shishkabob, his chest with a sword about seven and a half feet tall through it. The dogs eyes are still open and teeth still beared and a bloody froth slips from his mouth, all the strength removed from the body, now limp and lifeless. The DG just laughs and takes the 100 pound dog off and throws it several yards away like wrapper from a bar. Then the DG lifts its foot and smashes your car you worked so hard for, that you even got a raise for.. You stare wide eyed at the DG momentarily and then run into the house, your keys jiggling, you start sorting through them. Just barely are you getting inside the house in time only for a giant hooved foot to come crashing throught the door, knocking it out of it's frame. The DG reaches down and grabs you, chukling the entire time and with a smile of glee.

. If you are not impressed than you are an idiot.

The ones in WOW are somewhat powerful and their appearance is much more uglier [in my opinion] than the ones in WCIII. The ones in WOW are lighter, being related to Fiends and all, and have the ability to glide but not fly. The ones in WCIII are purely Earth bound and the wings give the impression that they are just for show and not to actually be physically used.

It is thought that they are heavily based on the Balrogs from The Lord of The Rings. Many have reached this conclusion because of not only the pysical similarity of the two but also because one of the in-game sound files relating to the DG contains 'Balrog' in it's name.
