| Tawrens: Are you sure we can trust him?
Ethaniel: Yeah, Byder's contact always come through. T: So where is he? Laura: He said he'd would be wearing a Hawaiian shirt. E: Is that a Hawaiian shirt? L: Very. Man1: Excuse me, can you tell me how to find the museum? L: Yeah, you, uh, just take Lakeshore Boulevard, all the way down. Man1: I have been undercover at Norapharm. L: One of Banning's shell companies? Man1: Pharmaceuticals. Their front is making over the counter cold remadies. L: Why do I get the feeling that Banning's not making nasal spray? M1: Try a drug that's gonna to put people to sleep at the push of a button. L: Ah, television. M1: Cute. He's got one of the counties top physicians working for him. They're going to promonte this stuff as the cure for the common cold. L: He knows how to target the masses. People will be standing in line around the block for it. M1: Yeah, it's call Nurasac. They're gonna launch the drug next week. L: [To Tawrens] Behind you. E: Stay put. L: Yeah. E: I'll go get the car. T: Move...go! E: Banning's first guinea pig. T: He's heavy for a rodent. L: Zack was right about the drug. E: We have to find Banning's prized doctor. E: Who is it? L: My father. L: His vital signs are normal. It's like he's in a deep sleep. Still no rapid eye movement. [To Ethaniel] Could you help me lift his head. E: What is it? L: It's like a band-aid. No lacerations. No incision. T: Ask your father? L: My father didn't do this. T: How do you explain the photo? L: My father's a doctor. He wouldn't purposefully try to harm someone. T: And when was the last time that you spoke to your father? L: Three months ago. T: That's enough time for Banning to get to him. E: It's a trap. Banning is using your father to draw you out. L: Then there's no choice. It's a trap I have to walk into. Banning: Dr. Keating, are we on schedule? Dr. Keating: It's going to be tight but I think we should have enough Nurasac ready for the launch next week. You should talk to Dr.Rupp about the patches, that's her department. Worker: There you go, Dr. Rupp. Marlena Rupp: [To Worker] Thank you. [to Banning] Well, I don't anticipate any problems, Mr. Banning. We're right on schedule. B: I know I can rely on you, Marlena. You have a unigue talent for getting things done. L: Unlisted. I went by the old house, it's empty. T: Doesn't your father work at the hospital? L: I called, he left three months ago. E: I think I found something. L: Ah! It's too small, can you zoom in? T: Three-thousand-five... L: Now what? E: We run a search for a list of streets with that number. T: Let's say we stop in the neighborhood of Temera. Maid: Mrs. Keating will be right with you. May I get you something to drink? L: No, thank you. Guard: Tell Banning Laura's here. L: Mom, I told you to stay away from Banning. Now you've got guards planted outside your door. Laura's Mom: Honey, we were so worried about you that we hired detectives. We've been searching everywhere. Mr. Banning has been doing everything he can to help us find you. L: Because he wants to have me killed. You can't listen to anything he says. LM: I didn't know what else to do. I haven't heard from you in months and he was the only one who was willing to help. L: Mom, I'm sorry. I told you I had to go away. LM: I haven't slept a full night since you left. Every time the phone rings I pray it's you. I didn't even know how to reach you when we moved. L: I didn't have a choice, I didn't want to put you in danger. LM: But you're here now. L: Because it's too late. By working with Banning Dad's put you both at risk. LM: Laura,...you know your father. Look, I tried to tell him that you didn't trust Banning but he wouldn't listen to me. The next thing I knew the movers where packing us up. L: Where is he? LM: At the office. He practically lives there now. When I call he rushes me off the phone. L: I have to warn him before he gets any deeper. LM: Too deep into what? Laura, tell me what's going on. L: Banning's going to use dad's work to hurt a lot of people. LM: Your father would never hurt anyone. L: I know that he thinks what he is doing is right. Banning can be very persuasive. LM: Yes, he told us that you were in trouble. He...he said that Ethaniel murdered someone. L: He's lying. Ethaniel is not a killer. [phone rings] LM: Is that him? L: Okay. LM: Laura, please, let us help you. Honey... L: I have to get out of this house, mom. Guard: Johnson, she's leaving. DK: Something's have come up, I've got to go. MR: Everything all right? DK: Well, my daughter showed up and we haven't seen her or heard from her in months. It's hard on my wife. MR: And you? DK: I don't think I can talk to her anymore. The more I try to help her, the more I push her away. MR: Well, kids grow up and make stupid decisions but you have to just let them go through it. DK: All that potential, throwing it away to just become a fugitive. MR: She must be strong willed. DK: That's an understatement. MR: What is it they say? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. DK: Well, I was hoping that she'd reach higher than these old branches. MR: Don't underrate yourself. Your an amazing man and I have no doubt a terrific father. DK: Well thanks. MR: I know it must be difficult to concentrate when your worried about your family. DK: Uh, I'll have everything in on schedule, don't worry. MR: This is the most important work you've ever done. It's going to make you famous. Don't drop the ball now. DK: I guess your right. Going home wouldn't solve anything. E: We're in. T: Okay, let's offer our services. L: Uh, We got a call, your lines were down. Front Desk Lady: Yeah, they just went dead. Um, They we're working a minute ago. E: We're going to need access to your second level. FTL: Okay, put these on. And please use the stairs over there. E: Thanks. T: The mainframe computer should be on that floor. E: Okay, Tawrens and I will get past the security into the main computer room while you look for your Father. T: He should be on the third floor. E: After we download all the data from Norasac we will meet back at the rear loading bay. Which is...right here. L: How much time do I have? T: Ten minutes. If your father sided with Banning... L: He won't. T: What if he can't be turned? L: My father's not one of Banning's thugs. I'll tell him whats going on, give him the chance to do what's right. E: How can you be sure he'll listen? L: He doesn't have a choice, does he? MR: His wife just had a visit with Laura. B: Yes, I'm aware of that. MR: Laura warned her about you. B: Humans are funny creatures, Marlena. As children they cling to their parents, as they age they try desperately to sever the family ties and yet whenever there in trouble where is the first place they run? MR: Blood is thicker than water. B: You've been collecting their cliches. MR: They seem to come in handy. Our doctor wanted to rush home to his wife but I persuaded him to stay. B: You're very good at that. MR: I think Laura got to her mother. She's having doubts. B: Leave Laura and her mother to me. You concentrate on keeping Dr. Keating's mind off of his family. MR: That shouldn't be difficult. He seems inclined to put work first. B: How fortunate for us. L: Dr. Keating. DK: Laura. L: Is there, uh, somewhere where we can talk in private? DK: Um, yes, um...Marlene, um... MR: I'll be in my office. DK: Where have you been? Why haven't you called? L: I couldn't. DK: Well, you know your mother nearly had a nervous breakdown. L: I'm sorry. DK: You're sorry? Disappear for three or four months without so much as a phone call. L: I don't have time for this. Is this what you're working on? DK: Where did you get this? L: One of Banning's ex lab assistants is lying unconscious because he got too close to the truth. DK: Is that what Ethaniel told you? L: No, I was there. Zack was wearing your patch. One of Banning's thugs hit a button and he went down. I need some help to revive him. DK: Laura, you are completely irrational. Are you hearing what you are saying? L: Dad, Banning is using your drug to put people to sleep. DK: That's absurd. L: Tell that to Zack. MR: She's here. B: Good. Two birds with one stone. That's a very popular clich here. Do you like it? MR: What does it mean? B: Dr. Keating's work will allow me to control the human population while I complete the shift. That's one bird. MR: And drawing Laura out of hiding is the second. B: Your very good at this. I'll contact security to seal off all exits. I'll doubt that Laura will be visiting alone. MR: She is talking to Keating, should I intervene? B: No. Monitor the conversation. I'll expect a full report when I arrive. DK: I have been working towards this discovery for almost ten years. Banning is the first man to offer to support my vision. L: I know you think you're doing the right thing I- DK: This isn't just a cure for the common cold. I mean, based on this research we'll be able to prevent the spread of viruses and ultimately wipe out disease. L: He's using you, dad! DK: I'm not going to turn my back on helping millions of people because your psycho patient boyfriend-- L: Banning is not who you think he is! DK: Well, who is he then? L: I can't get into that right now. We have to get out of here. DK: I am not going anywhere. M1: Have you checked in there? M2: Just about to. T: I hate interruptions. Keep going. I got it. T: Keep going. I'll go and get Laura. DK: Laura, I want you to get some help. L: You can't trust anyone here. Stay away from that woman. MR: Dr. Rupp? She's an expert in her field. L: If she works for Banning she's dangerous. DK: Are you listening to yourself? You are feeding off of Ethaniel's paranoia. T: We have to go. Now. DK: Who's he? Another mental patient? T: That's very funny. Is he coming with us? DK: No. T: No? L: No. DK: Wait. T: Come on. Run. SG: They're up here! E: The roof. L: We're gonna have to find another way. T: All right, get rid of the belt. L: Why? Ah, Tawrens. M1: Do you see anything? M2: No. L: What the hell is that? E: Theron microcircuitry. Self-charged particles of a highly conductive material we call Formite. L: Could it be a neurotransmitter? E: Yeah, if the charge were strong enough to impact the sleep center. L: There is no way my father is responsible for this. This is pure Theron technology. E: There still isn't proof that he didn't assist in the development. L: You're beginning to sound like Tawrens. If we can convince him of the truth he could help us stop Banning. T: We gave him his chance, Laura. This is not an easy decision but sometimes have to make that sacrifices one life...for the life of millions. L: This isn't your decision to make. E: Even if we did find the existing patches with your father working for him Banning could just start all over again. L: All I need is some time to make him listen. We could kidnap him, make him see who Banning really is. T: Are you sure you know your father as well as you think you do? L: [To Ethaniel] You are the one who told me that Tawrens could be turned. I listened to you. Now you have to trust me. I know my own father. E: Okay. We'll do it your way. MR: If we start shaking our plans now it will only make him believe her. B: Keating will believe what I tell him to. His drug is the key to our success. He cannot not be distracted, we lose him we lose everything. MR: He's starting to lose his focus. He is worried about his family. B: Well, than we must keep him away from his family. The launch is tomorrow. Is that clear? Don't let Dr. Keating out of your sight. B: The signal processor. I want the installation completed immediately. E: Why didn't he revive when we took off the patch? L: The patch already transmitted it's signal to the brain. E: It must remain dormant until it's triggered by a remote. Before Zack went down Tawrens and I heard something. It was beyond human hearing. L: An ultrasonic signal. E: But it must be specific to each individual patch, like a digital code. L: Like a cell phone receiving only it's frequency. E: Exactly, so if we find each code and recreate the ultrsonic frequency then we can revive Zack and take control of Banning's experiment. L: So we start with a high digital frequency beyond human hearing and work up from there. DK: But that's absurd. MR: I tried to talk him out of it but he wouldn't listen. Banning thinks your daughter and her friend are dangerous to you and to the project. DK: I know we've had our problems but, I mean, Laura wouldn't do anything to hurt me. MR: You don't really know her anymore. You said so yourself. DK: I know I can talk some sense into her if she'd just give me a chance. MR: I'm sure you could, too. But Mr. Banning isn't prepared to wait. There is too much at stake. DK: Well, I'll talk to him myself. MR: I promised Banning that we would step up our preparations. The launch is being moved to the first thing in the morning. DK: That's impossible. MR: Not if we work together. I can have enough patches ready. You can infuse them right away. DK: Well, I suppose we have enough Norasac in storage but we'd have to work all night to have them ready. MR: Than we work all night. DK: I better call my wife. MR: Tell her not to wait up. L: Still nothing. Try another twenty megahertz...another ten. E: Okay, it looks like I have found the right frequency. Now we have to determine the right sequence of pulses. Zack: What the hell? L: It's okay. Zack, you're safe. Z: What's going on? How did you get me here? E: Zack, what's the last thing that you remember? Z: The beach...we were walking. L: That was yesterday. Z: Oh, man. L: Yeah. Z: It's like I blinked my eyes. E: And you heard nothing? [Zack shakes head] E: Okay, it looks like the patch interfaces with the neuro receptors. Z: Are you telling me that I-[he goes out] L: What are you doing? E: Testing my theory. Z: [wakes back up talking as if nothing had happened]-can be turned off and on like a light bulb? L: Something like that. L: Hello. LM: Laura, it's me. L: Mom, I'm glad you called. LM: Honey, you were right about your father. There is something wrong. He told me he'd come home early today but he didn't get here till three. Banning is keeping him on a tight schedule. Banning...I wish I had never heard of him or his promises. Your father claims he has to work all night again in order to be ready for launch tomorrow. L: Did he say where, what time? LM: In the morning. They're setting up in front of the Brissey Community Center. L: Mom, dad's telling you the truth...and your right about not trusting Banning. Don't do it, not ever. LM: I'm sorry, I didn't listen to you sooner. L: It's okay, just promise me you will get out of that house and go somewhere safe. LM: I'm already packed. L: Okay, well, I have to go, I'll talk to you soon. LM: Laura. L: Yep? LM: I love you. L: I love you too, mom. L: Well, we've got him on the run. Banning's picked up the launch. B: Dr. Keating, may I have a word? Would you excuse us, Marlena? Are you alright, doctor? You seem a little on edge. DK: I'm sorry. I have been up all night. B: Quite alright. It's Laura, isn't it? DK: I know you think she's dangerous but she's not. She has just become obsessed with these bizarre notions. B: About me? DK: Yes. B: I warned you about Ethaniel. It seems his delusions are rubbing off on Laura. D: I suppose. B: If she approaches you again let me help. I know an excellent clinic in Geneva that specializes in situations like hers. DK: Yes. Um, do you recall a lab technician named Zack? B: No, I don't offhand. Why? DK: It's-It's nothing. Lady: No, thank you. Lady2: Ohhh, thank you. Man: I'll take one of those. L: All the patches have to be activated and rendered inert. E: Don't worry, I found the common frequency code that triggers all the patches to activate. Go set this by the fountain. I'm dialing the frequency modulation from the van. I'll meet you back there. Hey, be careful. DK: Is something wrong? MR: Just a little headache. T: Doctor, I have this pain in my side. MR: Tawrens. Laura: No! Guard: Hey...Hey! E: How could you just leave her there! T: I had no choice. You know, the first mistake we made was trying to take the doctor alive. E: It's her father, Tawrens! Where's your compassion? T: Remember what you said to me? We can't risk the future of this planet to save one man. Even if it is Laura's father. E: The same thing could be said about you when you were with Banning. Laura risked her life to save you. You might want to thank her sometime. L: Dad, you're alright. DK: Of course. L: What happened? DK: You slipped. Hit your head. L: We got to get out of here. DK: Soon, your mother and I are working on some arrangements. L: For what? A rubber room with curtains? DK: Laura, I know that you believe what you believe is true but- L: Dad, Banning isn't even human. He's here to destroy us. DK: Laura, stop. L: You can't trust Marlena either. The patch contains more than your drug. There is a alien transmitter hidden. DK: That's impossible. B: And how's our guest? L: I told him the truth, Banning. B: Not the evil alien yawn again? DK: You're lucky Mr. Banning didn't call the police. L: Go ahead, Mr. Banning, call the police. Tell them what's really inside your drug patches. Tell my father, too. B: Perhaps we should leave her to rest now. DK: Yeah, yes, he's right. Honey, try to stay calm. L: No! Dad, listen! Uh... Z: We have to destroy signal processor. It's like destroying the phone companies switchboard. It pulls the plug on his entire operation. E: Well, what about Laura? We can't just assume he has her. T: He definitely has her. Banning would want to keep her close. Z: So how are you going to take out the signal processor? Fire..plastic explosives? E: That's too messy. Besides, we can do a lot more damage with this. Z: Cool, what the hell is it? E: It's an electromagnetic pulse generator. It's discharge will erase all recorded data and destroy every electronical device in the building. Z: I like it, but there's a problem. E: What? Z: Well, if Laura has been fitted with one of Banning's sleep than we'll have to get to her before you set that thing off. T: Why? Z: Well, once that processor is dead there's no link left to the victim. It's like having an unlisted number. She'll never wake up again. Marlena: Laura will be alright. DK: Yes, I know. Her mother is on her way over now to take her home. MR: Does Mr. Banning know that? DK: I don't think it's any of his business. MR: Well, it's just that I though Mr. Banning was making arrangements for her. DK: Not that I'm aware of. MR: George, what is it? DK: It's nothing. Look, could we, uh, prep these new patches so I can get home? MR: Of course. T: It will take fine minutes to build a charge. Then he blows. E: Do it. Z: What about Laura? E: Leave Laura to me. T: Ethaniel, you have fine minutes. Z: Did you build this from plans or-or-or did you bring it with you. DK: Laura. Laura. It's your dad. I'm gonna get you out of there. T: You don't need to be here. Z: I don't want to miss the fireworks. T: Fine. It's your life. MR: We are losing him. B: Not so long as we have his daughter. MR: Are you sure that's enough? B: Marlena, these creatures have a few primal impulses that are entirely predictable...family, lust, hunger. MR: What about survival? E: Dr. Keating. DK: I don't understand any of this but I'm afraid for Laura. E: You should be. DK: Can you get her out? E: Yes. DK Come on. E: Vitamins. DK: Banning? E: And Marlena. The patch allows them to control the sleep center through a remote signal. DK: But you've removed it. Why won't she wake up? E: It's too late. The signal has already traveled to the brain. DK: Laura. Laura. E: That won't help. DK: What use is that? E: First we have to determine the correct frequency. DK: Well, why isn't it working? E: I'm trying to match the specific code used on her. DK: Each patch was assigned a unique signal? E: Exactly. DK: Oh, Laura! Thank God. Come on, let's get her out of here. L: Aren't you coming with us? DK: Yes. Z: What about Ethaniel and Laura? T: Don't worry, they'll make it. Z: How do you know that? T: Because I know Ethaniel. Come on, move! Let's get in the van. L: This way, dad. Z: Excellent timing. L: Let's go. T: I'm sorry. I should have known loyalty runs in the family. Your father is a good man. L: Yes, he is. T: Laura,I know what you went through to get me away from Banning and I don't know if I ever thanked you so, thank you. L: You were worth it. E: Our contacts will see that you are safe. L: Once you get to Montana they'll help you establish your new identity. LM: And what about you? When are we going to see you again? L: Every time I talk to you I am putting you in danger. DK: Well, I figure that we are all in this together now. I don't see why we can't talk to each other once in a while. L: Alright, I'll try to call. DK: Montana...I never thought I would be a small town country doctor. LM: Might be a nice change. Laura, I am sorry sorry we didn't listen to you. L: It's okay. LM: Bye, honey. E: Dr. Keating, your work will save lives. DK: Yours will, too. Come on. Honey. Oh, Laura. Your mom is real proud of you...and I am proud of you. END |
