| Welcome to my MP3 Page | ||||||||||||||||
| The idea is to place MP3's of some of my songs/compositions of interest for people to have a listen to. My CD releases containing these and dozens of other compositions are also available for purchase. | ||||||||||||||||
| First is a song called Mermaid. Recorded 4/25/99 on a Roland D70, Roland TD7 Electronic Drum Kit, & Nord Modular synth. Vocals were run through the Nord Vocoder. Lyrics from a book on John Waterhouse art used to describe his well known Mermaid painting. Originally released on the Mutiny in Jonestown recording "The Return of the Nowhere Man". | ||||||||||||||||
| Next up is a song called Nathicana. Recorded 6/3/91 on a Roland PM16 Electronic Drum Kit, Yamaha SY22 synth, Rick4001 bass, and PRS guitar. This is actually the 2nd half of the song. The words are from a poem by HPLovecraft. I've always broken the poem up in 2 parts, the 1st where Nathicana appears in a paradise setting and the 2nd where paradise has been poisoned by 'the daemon damn'd season of Dzannin'. This was recorded on an old Tascam cassette portastudio. Originally released on the Mutiny in Jonestown recording "The False Hollow Phantoms of Beauty" which included 7 HPL based songs. | ||||||||||||||||
| Next is a song written in 12 tone serial style. Recorded 11/27/99 on a Roland C80 Electric Harpsichord after I began studying Arnold Schoenberg and the style of music he developed in the early 1900's. The basic idea is that if all 12 notes are used equally in a predefined order without repetition in the sequence, you can compose music with no tonal center. I think serial music is so cool and this is one of my short pieces. The Roland C80 is a beautiful instrument and was very hard to track down. I use it for all my solo keyboard/classical compositions. | ||||||||||||||||
| Next is a song called How. Recorded 12/5/92 using a Roland PM16 drum kit, Rick4001 bass, and Korean Fender Strat. I love that guitar, it's powder blue so I nicknamed her Peggy Sue. I don't usually customize my instruments but she had a wonderful maple neck and weak stock pickups. I dropped in 3 new Fender Lace Sensor pickups and put locking tuning pegs on in the morning and recorded this song at night. The guitar tone sounds like destroying furniture with a chainsaw. | ||||||||||||||||
| The last song I have is called Normal People. Recorded 12/7/02 using a Roland TD7, Rick4001 bass, and Peggy Sue Strat. Christmas was coming and I was sick of traffic and shoppers. I needed to create some aggro music so recorded a handful of holiday hardcore to celebrate! | ||||||||||||||||
