"Painless" Wiring

Ok, I've picked places to "splurge" on my restoration. I decided to install the "Painless Wiring" 18 Circuit Harness into my project.

The kit comes almost completely wired into a modern fuse block that uses blade style fuses. You just have to lay the wire runs, which are already bundled very logically wherever you want to place them. The fuse block even mounts into the original location, however, a fuse block was an option in '56, and my original wiring harness didn't have one. Only one fuse was included inside the headlamp switch for the entire car.
The yellow wires you can see on the passenger side of the dash are for power windows and door locks. This is a future upgrade I'm planning, and the 18 Circuit Wiring harness came with this prewired.
The kit even came with the little black connectors for the back of the instrument cluster.

The loop of purple wire is for a tach when I upgrade. The two extra bulbs are backlights for the ignition switch and heater controls.

I know this looks like a mess, but it's really well laid out. The engine wires come out through the firewall over the engine. The big tangle of wires coming out of the driver's side of the firewall is for the headlights, signals, and alternator. The three little wires below that are for the headlight dimmer switch.
