| ON 12/5/02 and 1/16/03 Austin fell victim to Shaken Baby Syndrome. One who was trusted with his life, violently shook him. Many people dont see shaking a child as an action that can cause harm when really, shaking a child once often results in severe brain damage, disability and death. As a result of less than 10-20 seconds of frustration and shaking, Austin suffers from 20/108 vision, retinal hemmorages, an epidural bleed in the brain, seizures, trauma and other effects. He is at risk for learning disabilities, and he has faced and will continue to face many challenges in life. Just a few seconds changed his life forever, and presented him with challenges and struggles NO child should ever have to face.
