It was the end of a long road downhill of adulteries, drinking, and drugs on both sides of the marriage bed. It was nearly the end for Jamey. The authorities were talking of having him committed to the State Mental Hospital, and the whole community that had long tolerated and tried to help Jamey, turned on him.
Except his pastor. He said he couldn't give up on Jamey even in the face of community and churchwide criticism which included his wife's parents. Since I was home for the holidays, his pastor, a good friend of mine, asked me for help, and brought Jamey out to the Christmas tree farm where I was working to see if I could "do something with him."
Finally, An Uphill Road
Though Jamey was infamous, it was the first time I had met him. He looked graveyard dead, but his pastor was proud of how much he had improved in the last three days since he and two men in the church had detoxed him in a 24 hour watch in a local motel. I looked Jamey in the eye and asked him the only thing I could think of.
"Jamey, do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?" He was at the end of his rope and knew it. Within twenty minutes he had prayed a prayer to receive Christ's grace and new life, and I had sealed it with a prayer over him forbidding the enemy to take back the ground won that day. By the way he coughed and gagged during the prayer, I believe several demons defected right then. His pastor was afraid Jamey was still too high to know what he was doing, but we trusted he was a new creature on an uphill road, albeit with a truckload of baggage on board.
Questionnaire Results
After getting Jamey to a Christian drug halfway house and me to Fuller for classes, his pastor and I began planning deep-level healing for Jamey. He filled out Doris Wagner's deliverance questionnaire, and his pastor kept a copy and sent me the original. Following is pertinent information from the questionnaire.

Since going to the Christian drug halfway house, he has risen in the ranks from detox to a staff member! At his graduation from the program, Jamey was asked to give a valedictory address. In the speech he told of being in many other alcohol treatment centers before, but until he received Christ in December 1995, he had never had the power to overcome alcohol or drugs. All this and his pastor still has not prayed with him.
Analysis
Based on community-wide knowledge of Jamey plus the additional information listed above, I called Jamey's pastor with the following recommendations which we discussed at length. Since the pastor has never done deep-level healing, I took significant time encouraging him and instructing him in our authority, use of Scriptures in deep-level healing, controlling any manifestations, the centrality of renunciation, confession, repentance, and forgiveness, and commanding the enemy to leave. To his relief, I counseled the pastor who is Southern Baptist to refrain from speaking to any demons. In my opinion, Jamey's main problems involve the following:
1- A curse of death and possibly a spirit feeding on the curse.
2- Hereditary lust from his father's side.
3- Hereditary addictions, possibly emerging from mother's side.
4- Patriarchal domination, possibly resulting in a spirit of fear and inner children.
Instructions for Jamey's Pastor
During the whole process, have Scripture verses to validate the process and encourage Jamey to keep going in getting cleaned up.
Jamey must break the curse of death over himself and ask forgiveness for wishing to die. Deal with freemasonry which may be another power point for a spirit of death because of the curses moving through the soul-ties with the wife from her father. Command a spirit of death to leave.
Next move to the broken relationships with his mother, sisters, and wife. Teach him the difference between forgiveness (between him and God) and reconciliation (between him and another person). This time will be especially painful with the incredibly deep wounds that have festered. Faith picturing and tears will probably be a large part of this time.
Then move on the patriarchal domination because it has great strength probably contributing to the propensity to addiction. Megaprayer needed here along with inner child work which I did not mention to the pastor. Check for a spirit of rejection in regard to relationship with his father.
Next go for the hereditary addictions. Here is a powerful spirit that needs significant weakening. Spirits of alcohol, nicotine, and pills may also be present. Because of the intensity of the father's sexual problems, also look for a spirit of addiction to sex. Have Jamey confess and repent of his father's sin of sexual addiction. Get rid of them. Heavy repentance needed here on a personal and lineage basis, confessing like Nehemiah, his sin and the sin of his fathers."
Mop up by going after a hereditary spirit of lust. Have Jamey repent of father's sexual sin. Break soul-ties with adulterers and prostitute. Confess and repent of the sins involved here listed above.
Repent, ask forgiveness for the witchcraft category, including everything there, then command a spirit of witchcraft to go. May be associated with the death wish.
In the name of Jesus break an American cultural domination off Jamey of racism and materialism. Break a South Carolina curse of death and pride off Jamey.
All this should take the better part of three to four hours with breaks at appropriate points. Provide Jamey with my standard post-prayer instructions and go over them with him. Make an assignment for him to write you a letter one month from the day of prayer to tell you how things are different and to bring up any further prayer needs. Writing a letter will be encouraging to you to see the changes that deep-level healing makes in a life and encouraging to Jamey since it will show him what a difference the Lord's power has made in his life.
The long term goal, of course, is to get Jamey and his family reconciled and living together once again. Such a mammoth move will indeed be a miracle of God's, and will inevitably include deep-level prayer for his wife and each of the children. Pray for the children as soon as possible to cut short the damage that years of wound neglect would bring.
Jamey's progress without deliverance prayer is so significant that there can be no sure prediction of how much deep-level healing can do in his life and testimony. Indeed, there appears to be a diamond in the rough in Jamey's case, and the enemy will no longer keep it hidden from polishing.
