     1.  Sr. Philip1 Causey was born in Prob. Dorchester County, Maryland, and died August 1778 in Craven County, North Carolina.  He married Mary.  She died Bef. 1768.

    

Children of Philip Causey and Mary are:

+     2              i.        Phillip2 Causey II, born 1730 in Dorchester County, Maryland; died 1802 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.

Generation No. 2

 

     2.  Phillip2 Causey II (Philip1) was born 1730 in Dorchester County, Maryland, and died 1802 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.  He married Sarah Ann T. Laws.  She was born 1735, and died 1803.

 

Notes for Phillip Causey II:

First land was bought on October 1, 1754 from his father Philip Causey.  The tract consisted of 35 acres.  He continued to acquire contiguous tracts until 1771.    In the 1770 Dorchester County, Maryland Debt book, Phillip Causey II is listed as owning Pullet's Alley, (35 Acres), Causey's Chance  (172 Acres), and Cock Hill (19 Acres). 

 

November 6, 1771 Phillip Causey II purchased 105 Acres in Cedar Creek Hundred in Sussex County, Delaware from Luke and Bettey Walton for 200 Pounds and 10 shillings.  A year later, Phillip and his wife Sarah sold the same 105 acres for 325 pounds, a nice profit.

 

Appears in Edgecombe County, North Carolina in 1773. 

 

Purchased 654 acres in Edgecombe County, North Carolina from Noah and Murfee Sugg for 100 pounds in February or March of 1773.

     4.  Leaven3 Causey (Phillip2, Philip1) was born Abt. 1760 in Prob. Dorchester County, Maryland, and died Abt. November 1793 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.  He married Nancy Ann Morgan, daughter of Joseph Morgan.

The Will of Leaven Causey:  18-Nov-1793   November Ct. 1793

     Wife Nancy Causey- Life estate in Negroes Chainey and Ben, bed, furniture, etc., with reversion to my son Leamon Causey at her death.  If my son should die without issue, my property shall fall to my wife for her lifetime and then revert to her family and mine.  My wife is to keep my son and raise him.

     8.  Lemon M.4 Causey (Leaven3, Phillip2, Philip1) was born April 22, 1788, and died December 15, 1853 in Crawford County, Georgia.  He married Jane Jenkins Abt. 1810, daughter of Andrew Jenkins and Mildred.  She was born October 14, 1784 in North Carolina, and died April 19, 1858.

 

Notes for Lemon M. Causey:

In the Will of Lemon Causey, read on 12-Jan-1854: He bestowed to his lovely wife JANE CAUSEY all his real and personal estate.  After his wife's death, his estate was to be divided equally between all his children, share and share alike, with the following exceptions.  Shear of son Levin Causey is for the benefit and use of his children and in no way is to be subject to his son's debts.  Share of daughter Nancy Sanders vested in her for her present or any future husband's use, and after death, vested in her child or children, or should she die without child, her portion to revert back to his estate.  Executrix: wife Jane Causey and son Samuel H. Causey.  Witnesses:  James J. Ray, R. Montfort, and William E. Matthews.                 CODICIL 18-Jul-1853:  He changed that portion of his estate that was willed to sons William J. Causey and Richard Causey to go instead to their children for their sole benefit and use, free of debt of their fathers.  Wit:  James J. Ray, Lewis F. Hicks, and John S. Sandefur.

Walker June 28, 1885 in Crawford County, Georgia.  She was born December 12, 1854, and died May 24, 1907.
