The probate file #160 for Samuel Bancroft shows Exrs, Sally Bancroft, executrix, and Seneca Bancroft, executor, signed as Bencraft/Bencroft on October 31, 1823.
In the will, bequesthed to Sally, his wife; eldest daughter, Charlote, wife of Royal Tyler; to the three youngest daughters Sary, Ruth and Deasithy Bancroft, $20 when they come of age; son Jonas, $40 when he is of age; and the eldest sons, Seneca and Samuel--land.
Samuel Bancroft came from Rutland, VT in the summer of 1816 and moved his family into town the next year. Samuel's death date from his will and probate.
