"John Bergant

Madisonville, Ky. -- john Bergant, 90 of Madisonville, Ky., died at 12:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at Louisville, Ky.
He was born Oct. 3, 1910, at West Mineral, to Matthew and Mary Ann Dolence Bergant.
Mr. Bergant was a retired coal miner for the Pittsburg and Midway Coal Co., having never missed a single day in 45 years of service.
He was a member of the Lincoln Trail Retriever Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the Down & Dirty Dog Trainers.
Survivors include two sons, Johnie W. Bergant and James M. Bergant, both of Louisville; five granddaughters; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death byhis wife of 50 years, Esther Margaret Thompson Bergant on Aug. 14, 1990; three brothers; and four sisters.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Star Cemetery at West Mineral, with Delbert Chance officiating. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, Madisonville, and from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir.".

"Esther M. Bergant

Esther M. Bergant, 72, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 1990, in the
Regional Medical Center at Madisonville, Ky. She had been ill several months.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1917, at Bartlesville, Okla., to James C. and
Sherman M. Kaisin Thompson. She was a resident of West Mineral for many years
before moving to Madisonville in 1945.
Survivors include her husband, John Bergant of the home in Madisonville; two
sons, John W. and Jim Bergant of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, James C.
Thompson II of Overland Park, and Earl Thompson of Shawnee Mission; and five
grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Star Cemetery, West Mineral. The
Rev. Delbert Chance will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to
9 p.m. Saturday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir. Friends will meet at
the cemetery Sunday for the service.".
