The son of William J Bertram (1821-1902) & Martha Hurt (1832-1877) Susannah died September 4, 1877 Wayne County Kentucky. She is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, SunnyBrook, Wayne County Kentucky. John remarried Martha Cooper on January 13, 1884 in Wayne County Kentucky, daughter of Shelby Montgomery Cooper & Eliza Jane Beck. John and his brother Reuben married sisters; Elizabeth Burnett and Susannah Burnett, both the daughters of Johnathan Smith Burnett and Mary "Polly" Redman
