MISC NOTES:
Alexander Colclough was the founder of the Colclough Family of South Carolina. He was the son of William and Mary (Rogers) Colclough of Warrenton County, North Carolina. He recieved Beacon Himm Plantation as a grant from the King of England and was a Captain in South Carolina Militia, serving under General Francis Marion. He was captured by the British at the "Seige of Charleston" and was a prisioner of war for one year in St Augustine, Florida. He was also to have served under General Morgan. His Beacon Hill Plantation was an important source of supply to the Continental Army. This was witnessed by reciepts on file among the Historical Commission of South Carolina Records of beef, pork, corn and other food products supplied. He is also said to have attained the rank of General, but it is not known whether this has been verified or not. He was commissioned High Sheriff of Clarendon County, South Carolina in 1791.
