WALTER ODIN NELSON
Walter Nelson, 61 of 2330 Rosedale Drive died at 2 p.m. September 12 in St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. He was a retired president and General Manager of Port Arthur Marine Engineering Works. Member of Procter Street Baptist Church, member of Cosmopolitan Lodge No. 872 AF & AM, El Mina Shrine, past chairman of Naval Advisory Council.
Survivors are his wife; Melva Elaine Nelson, three sons; Richard O. Nelson, Shreveport, John W. Nelson, Houston, Dan Nelson, Killeen, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Bettie Cansler, Baltimore, Maryland, one step-son Thomas E. Ussery, of Port Arthur, three step-daughters; Mrs. Ronald J. Kappus, Decatur, Georgia, Mrs. William C. Thompson, Miss Jacqueline J. Ussery, both of Port Arthur. Four grand-children.
Services will be held at Nunelly-Stanley Chapel of Chimes Thursday, 2 p.m. with Rev. Bert Mattingly of Procter Street Baptist Church. There will be a Masonic graveside service and burial will be in Greenlawn.
