Vernon Brien, 76, Eldon, died Dec. 7, 2002, at his home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Weimer, Texas, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Ruth Brien. He was married April 23, 1979, in Las Vegas, to Wanda Dollar, who survives at the home.

He was an aircraft machinist and was a member of the IAM Union in Burbank, Calif. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion in Lake Ozark.

Other survivors include: one son, Charles Brien, St. Charles, La.; one stepson, Theodore Simmons, Barnsville, Ga.; one daughter, Norma Nean Nelson, state of Texas; five stepdaughters, Nardell Jukes and Donna Tharpe, both of Simi Valley, Calif., Rebecca Malloy, Bakersfield, Calif., Kelly Kampenga, Bastrop, Texas, and Claudette Wilson, Osage Beach; one sister, Dorothy Kemp, Abilene, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Mary Brien, and two grandchildren, preceded him in death.

Private family services will be held at a later date. The body was cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
