It was great to have
all three boys at home
for a week  July 2009
If you  can't tell them apart, it's pretty much the way it's often been before:
Malcolm is the serious one, looking like he wonders why everyone else is acting so silly . . .
David bounces around healthy and happy . . .
and
Matt is wild and edgy, ready to burst out . . . .
Their fat daddy is so proud
of these grown up guys and glad they come back and entertain me
Dave's about the only one of us who can get Malcolm to smile or laugh
Young Beard and Old Beard consult;     are they talking about theology or economics or women ?
But soon he's off  thinking again
more news
I suppose you're wondering what each of us is doing these days,

(or you wouldn't be cruising this website, okay?)
Malcolm went to work in Israel twice after graduating from college.  Back in Wheaton between times, he joined Emmanuel Presbyterian Church (Warrenville) where he sang in the choir directed by his Men's Glee Club director from college days  He parked cars for a French restaurant in freezing Chicago weather, and for awhile thought about joining the U.S. Army as a linguist. But a trip to Bangkok Thailand in spring of 2009 turned his world upside down and within three weeks he was back there again.  He has a job teaching in an English speaking international high school, and a warm circle of new friends.  The Lord is good !
Susan has continued to teach more and more advanced levels of English to international immigrant university students at a large community college nearby, and also teaches  writing classes. She has also been taking (free tuition) writing classes herself at the same university and begun writing about her earlier work experiences, with the hope of some day publishing.
She also does private tutoring, ranging from helping professionals & executives perfect their English, to helping high schoolers catch up with materials they don't easily grasp.
Gene continues to publish, slowly, a few articles a year (you can look at older ones by clicking the link on our home page of this site) and has also designed and written about half a dozen courses for Trinity International University this past year (mostly Bible-related courses ). He keeps getting new courses to teach at University of Phoenix - last spring taught Philosophical Foundations for Free Market Capitalism three times ! HA!
This fall marks the fourth year I teach Introduction to the Bible each semester at Elmhurst College, one of the premier liberal arts schools of the midwest.   But I'm not pastoring right now, and we both miss that
Matt serves at Outback Steak House, and does some painting and remodeling of homes on his own;  but like the rest of us is looking for a full time job.  He's got incredible technical savvy, and got a wonderful job as lineman for ATT, but with all the layoffs in this economy, that sunk before it ever really floated.   Unlike his Honda/Toyota/Subaru parents, Matt drives a Cadillac !  When he drives;  he's on hold right now .  He turned 21 recently, so the whole world could cave in  any ole' time. He enjoys having friends over and barbequing in the back yard.
Dave came back from Papua New Guinea last Christmas and went back to Columbia, South Carolina to college. He felt confirmed in his desire to serve the Lord with all his  heart mind soul and strength, and the local church where he'd been serving confirmed that as well, naming him Director of Worship.  He has taken that seriously, as well as his ministry teaching the Bible to young prisoners once a week, & his summer job at a church day camp for kids.
As he gets ready to hunker down and study for his final semesters at college, he is confident God will provide him a way to pay for it all
